Boromir, Full Costume Build (Pic Heavy)

Just found this thread today and I gotta say...this looks gorgeous! The attention to detail and the craftsmanship is brilliant and looks great!

Your attention to detail is very very bad!!!!! Just kidding. hehe. Awesome job. You are a god of details.

Did a little more on the Shield this past week. A couple layers of Fibreglass each side:

Feels nice and sturdy now :D

I've put the shield on hold for now though because there's no way I can get it finished by this weekend so concentrating on getting everything else finished for a Parth Galen/Amon Hen version of Boromir ;)

So then moving onto my sword I sculpted more hilt detailing on with Apoxie sculpt:

Then I sanded it some more then gave it a coat of primer:

Then I painted it using a standard silver spray praint for the hilt section and Silver leaf Rub'n'buff for the blade. Then I gave it some texture and depth with a black ink wash where needed before painting the the little gold details.
Here it is next to my United Cutlery sword:

Not exactly the same but ok for a wooden copy I guess...

So tomorrow I'm going to do some last minute sewing adjustments to some of the soft parts then get some dirt and mud onto it all! >:D

Great work with the sword. I love apoxie sculpt clays... Can't wait to see the photos of you in this!

Very high quality of work here an it shows this is just BA brah!!!! I kinda tapered off from this forum for a while so i had some catchin' up ta do. keep up th' good work brah.:cool :eek:cool

Just stumbled across this thread and as a huge LOTR fan I am gobsmacked by this result so far. I thought I was pretty handy but am amazed how good your work looks. Will be watching this to the end...

Anduril,
This project is SO full of win! :thumbsup

Sean Bean's performance is one of the reasons why Fellowship is my favorite of Jackson's trilogy. Can hardly wait to see your finished costume. :cool

Wow! I am sooooo glad I stumbled upon this thread!!! Sheer Magnificence!!!! Cannot, absolutely cannot wait to see more!!

Fantastic work, just fantastic attention to detail!!!

So I assume you got this in time for Armageddon Melb? How was it? Any pics from the floor? :D

Yep, I had to borrow a friend's Leather Lore Bracers of Gondor he uses for his Aragorn costume which he was kind enough to let me use and I was good to go!

I also quickly threw together some Uruk Hai arrows with rare earth magnet tips and metal plates under my costume to make them come on and off easily so I did pre Uruk Hair attack on the Saturday of the Convention then added the arrows, a little fake blood and did dying Boromir on the Sunday (Minus the cloven Horn :p)

So here's some photos from the weekend:

The costume was a MASSIVE hit, I've never had this much attention in costume before except for one other I've done so I'm really happy with the response so far.

There's still a lot to do before I can call this costume complete (If you can ever call a costume that :p).
Next up is to get y own Bracers done, then finish off the Shield and then I would like to make his big velvet travelling cloak he wears for the first half of the film plus a few other bits and accessories :p
