Boromir, Full Costume Build (Pic Heavy)

I just discovered this thread and wow, your build is AMAZING. As everyone has already said, your attention to detail is beyond impressive! I've been toying with the idea of working with leather, so it's fun to see what kind of results you can get. Have fun at the premiere!

This was my first thread I looked at on this site and I am simply blown away with the level of commitment, ingenuity and talent displayed here. Beautiful work and thank you for showing the process! It makes the finished product that much more impressive, knowing what actually went into this.

Hey! I've been seeing you on videos around the net... finally thought to post one:

The Hobbit premiere: Cate Blanchett heads the glamour as THOUSANDS of fans arrive | Mail Online

SO COOL! Very happy for you. Hope you'll return and give us a review of all you saw and did.

Amazing, Looks exactly like the movie costume. How many hours do you think you have into this costume?

Great Work!

Congrats Anduril! It was lovely meeting you there. I'll leave it to you to tell everyone here what transpired at the party :)

Great meeting you too! :)

Well it was quite a ride, I won runner up at the costume party, judged by none other than some of the cast and crew, including Richard Taylor whom I had a fantastic chat to on the night and got some great feedback from. I also met Peter Jackson and Elijah Wood who both seemed impressed with my work and I got to thank them personally for their involvment in one of my favorite movie franchises!
I got to chat to a heap of the Weta guys there which was awesome and it was great meeting a bunch of the guys playing the Dwarves in the Hobbit as well.

My prize from the costume competition was a single ticket to the World Premiere showing of the Hobbit which involved me walking by the Cast and Crew on the red carpet (While in full costume of course).
I camped out with all my friends the night before too so by the time I got out of seeing the Hobbit I'd been in my Boromir for about 25 hours straight, which seems to be the limit for my false beard since it started to come off about halfway through the movie.

The movie was great! I can't wait for it to come out for the rest of the world so I can see it again (mutliple times) and also to be able to talk about it with people, it's been so hard keeping my mouth shut :p

Anyway, this is a build thread not a blog so I've got to get back into my build and get this shield finished! Hopefully once all the Chirstmas crazyness is over I can get some more stuff done, and then I may be starting on a particular Dwarf costume since I'm surrently suffering from Hobbit fever :p

That is just too stinking cool! But with all the love and hard work you've put into this, you totally deserved this memorable experience.

Now, if you had the shield, you would've bagged 1st place. =)

Can't wait to see what's next.

So awesome! It's great to hear of your experiences and how much fun you had...

This is what I love about the way Jackson runs things and the people at WETA - they are so ACCESSIBLE to the fans! And there is such a welcoming and mutual enjoyment of the films and the fandom.

I can't imagine staying awake for 25 hours and then watching a movie, let alone in costume. haha! (But at least it was a fairly comfortable costume.)

If you were runner up, the winner must have been fan-freaking-tastic. Your patience and attention to detail have resulted in some stunning work. I wish I were as fearless when tackling new mediums!

Great job!

Fantastic that you found the time to post! I was bottled up trying to share the news haha! Also, you know you can discuss the movie with me if you can't wait since we both watched it teehee ;) I can't wait for a second viewing this week

Great meeting you too! :)

Haha yeah we had a really cool camera man from 3 foot 7 following my friends and I throughout our night camping by the carpet but I didn't expect to be in there so much!

Such a bizzare feeling after having watched these production blogs for the past year and now being in the last one for the first film:S

It is amazing fun to have watched you build your costume and then see you in the finished product on the blog... So happy for you. :D

Oh man, I just DEVOURED this whole thread - came back to the RPF (took a break from costuming after the usual Comic-Con exhaustion) looking for some LOTR details and found this instead. Outstanding work, dude, it's so beautiful - amazing attention to detail and such great craftsmanship. I salute you!
