Boomerang Phaser replica

After completing my Boomerang Phaser prop, the speaker is extremely quiet on account it is housed in the body of the phaser. Does anybody know how to get around this? Just all the videos I have seen posted in various places the phaser sound effects are quite loud. Any help or tips you could give me would be greatly appreciated

When I built my Cricket Phaser (2 actually) I drilled a series of holes under the speaker. On the other I drilled a larger hole and glued a piece of photo etch screen over the hole to help "hide" it. Of course in a Cricket, space is extremely tight, you may try a bigger speaker.
