BOBF Cad Bane blaster

It’s only a ram rod because you recognize it though, most people don’t know or care about the mechanics of loading a black powder pistol, so it’s just a greeblie like any other.
It’s the same as all these blasters with hammers on them for me. Bothers me only because I know what it is

See, since we don't know how a blaster actually works, I can imagine the need for a hammer. The most common "how blasters work" story is that tibanna gas is converted to plasma and directed out the barrel, so maybe whacking something with a hammer was the most effective way to do that. Assuming there's actually a blank-firing version of the DL-44 in ANH, that weapon would have an actual moving hammer, thus we can say that blasters have moving hammers, and so they don't bug me.

But my imagination fails when it comes to integrated ram rods. :D You're all right, of course, when you say 99% of the audience has no idea what that is. And I'll admit I didn't see it when I was watching the show, it only jumps out when I'm looking at the stills.

I don’t think I’ve seen a moving hammer on screen, but I see your point haha

There's plenty of in lore explanations for the real parts of the guns. For example, the hammer on the DL-44 is the safety according to some reference books. Considering these blasters have electronic components in them it's really not that far fetched that there are multiple controls. Also in a galaxy with millions of species there is a wide variety of blaster design philosophies available.

I really struggled over the colors to choose for Cad Bane's blaster. I finally decided on a dark metallic. Here's my take on this amazing sidearm. I'm no professional, so be gentle.... :)

I realize theres not a huge amount to go on right now, but maybe theres some idea of what was used for Cad Banes live action blaster pistol?

Hi everyone!
While looking through different pages and subreddits about Cad Bane’a blasters I have found from what I believe is the model real world gun model, it’s the 1851 Colt navy. Now I know BENnotkenobi in this thread as well said this and I’m here to back that up and show an image I took of the screen used Cad Bane blasters at Star Wars celebration this year (2022)! You can see the the exact same metal details and pins under the guns barrel, but other details like the handle and such are heavily modified.

These to shots I grabbed seem to confirm that they used a real world base. Stamping and things puttyed on to cover groves and design aspects of the original gun.

Hello, I’m not sure if this is already known but I think I’ve found the ‘ridged boxes’ greeblie on the side of the blasters. I was watching a video of a guy who recreated the studio scale Falcon with original kit parts and when he held up a sprue sheet with the part on it, I noticed the shape right away from Bane's blasters.

It’s from a Tamiya Ferrari 312B car kit. It even has the triangular tabs on either end of the part as on the blasters. Not sure if they used casts of the original part or likely inspired 3D replicas, but hopefully this will help you all with scaling the part for your builds.

Here’s the link to the Falcon video if y’all want to see for yourself (around 1:04). It’s a fun watch regardless.

I think it is a Colt Navy with the trigger guard removed (and apparently, also the cylinder removed, in addition to a couple of other minor mods. You can buy non Firing replicas for about $100. Would make a neat project!
