Blue Beetle *WIP*

Recently acquired an awesome custom cowl from JFcustom (found HERE) and decided to start this project. Concept is to use the full face helmet, get the scarab made for the back, and use some modified Iron Man parts.

There will be a break in this as far as building but that is because I also have an Iron Patriot suit that needs painted before the premier... I have my builds on my facebook if you are interested. :D

Anywho...for the scarab. I found the back that I liked and started sketching for measurements and scale. I was going to freehand it but then I decided the back picture would work for templates:
1. Rotated and scaled picture to size I needed in Photoshop
2. Used the Adobe Acrobat print out the picture using the 'poster' function
3. Cut out the design and use as templates.

The scale was perfect... really easy to do for 2D models if you can't find templates. I used a hot knife to make the indention's for the vents/holes/whatevers.

The cowl is scaled a little big.... I will debate on what to do with it at the end. I would like to see it put together before starting a new one. It is a great mix of alien/bug so I am really happy with the design. It's a JFcustom custom....

Yes! When I saw Blue Beetle I thought you might be doing Ted Kord. But I'm so glad to see someone doing Jaime Beetle instead. I'm super excited to see how it works out!. :)

Yeah... I have some of the original comics but Young Justice kinda sold it for me. I've only seen a handful of these done... hopefully it turns out as good as I think in my own mind!
Hey nice start you got going there, this should be interesting
Thanks!

Haha...it's no where near the level of the Guyver with the amount of details that suit had. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it anyways. Thanks for tagging along on this ride too!

Just got back from Planet Comicon in KC so I can start working on this and my IP one again.

I didn't like the size of the mask so I redid it.... now it fits a lot better. I don't have the neck separate so the mobility for turning is shot....but should still look pretty freaking cool. I may split it later down the road after all the pieces are built.

Cheers!

Think I've found your next costume when you finish this one Durk :) I'll start whispering into your ear until you break soon!
