Blade Runner Tomenosuke Pro Prototype

When the Tomenosuke team released the first pictures of their Blade Runner Blaster prototype in about May 2010 the BR fanboy's went into a tailspin.

Thanks to Karl T's magnificent photographs of the original blaster taken at WorldCon, the new offering from Tomenosuke promised to rewrite the BR blaster pedigree and they have gone on to create one of the best replica's ever produced.

Like many other fans I loved the color scheme they used in their original prototype mockup and I resolved to acquire one just like it.

I have purposefully not finished my Tomo-Prototype as perfectly as the one gunsmith Nobutaka Toku (aka Toku-san) created - with mirror-chrome finish - because I liked the idea that this blaster is a work in progress version and not a finished model.

I will point out that they had one of MY MODELS and used it as a guild as well.

SO it was not all done with the photos.

When they showed up at the auction they compared their model, and they showed their version of the cocking lever which was a copy of MY COCKING lever...they had copied the marking my cocking lever had, it was from a 1972 version of the rifle.





It is SO much easier to work from a real model a real 3D version in your hands than from photos.

Awesome acquisition, Mark. :thumbsup :thumbsup I've loved that version of the Tomenosuke since they first released the photos a while back.

I never get tired of seeing the different incarnations of this prop.

That's right, give kudos when they're deserved (good show Rich) And Mark, what can I say about that blaster of yours but that's soooo beautifully made and really cool:cool How did you make the transparent grips?

I am just tired with the story how they did it only from Photos..

And I also agree where did you get the clear grips.

god, I can't believe you posted that....

I would like to remind you that I have gone out of my way to credit you at every opportunity (on this board and many, many others) for your epic contribution to the Blade Runner blaster world. I have strongly - and repeatedly - recognized the fact that you were responsible for bringing the blaster to the fanboys through years of diligence and hard work.

The fact that you feel that you have some god-given right to come in here, beat your chest and urinate on the wall only to promote some perceived slight that you feel was committed against you (by someone else), is not only unacceptable but disgraceful and utterly childish.

This thread is NOT a document regarding the history of the Tomenosuke blaster and how it came about but, rather about a build that was inspired by what they achieved.

You have once again done yourself a grave disservice by your thoughtless posturing. If you have nothing constructive to say or a criticism to raise about the topic of the thread, then I would thank you to simply leave the room without saying anything.

I never understood why someone would want to copy someone else's non-cannon design, but must confess the first time I saw it too, I was struck with how cool and unique it looked. Definitely looks like it would exist in the Blade Runner universe. Nicely executed.
