Got it today it the mail.

Oh.

My.

Crikey.

It's just plain nuts. I'll start off slow. I want to make sure I get pics that do this piece justice. I'm going to put together a little video too, just so you can see it. It's just plain nuts.

uh, I hate you. Australian gun laws = no blasters of any description. Come on, open the box!

I'm still trying to calm down after my initial opening of the box.

I swear, I've had some REALLY good luck with props over the past 14 months. For those that have been following my blog, you've been reading along as I acquire new props and whatnot. Without meaning to point fingers, prop collecting is often a good mix between disappointment and pleasant surprise. I've had my fair share of each. But all through 2010 and into 2011, EVERY prop I've acquired has been really amazing.

The Blade Runner blaster is no exception. In fact, it pretty much raises the bar.

In my mind, this officially puts an end to one of my child hood quests. I remember getting my first Marco catalog and seeing the BR gun they had in there. It was the first time I had seen the gun outside of the movie, and I thought it looked great. At the time, it seemed impossibly expensive. This was probably 1987 or something. I went to a con shortly thereafter and Marco had a table there. Even though the blaster had a big orange plug in the barrell, I still wanted one.

Over the years, I've owned a number of versions of the blaster. A couple different Coyle pieces, the Hartford PK-D, a Rick Ross, and a few castings of strange origins.

But this piece just blows them all away. It's just nuts.

Re: Blade Runner Temonosuke Blaster Pro

Please please please tell me you're going to bring it to the prop party!

Getting closer :lol

I'd also like to write up a brief history of events leading up to the creation of THIS blaster, but a few of the details are fuzzy to me. Help me document the timeline of this gun. Here's what i remember.

1. C&S blaster comes out, fans rejoice.
2. Years and years go by.
3. Karl Tate sees the real gun at WorldCon in Los Angeles and photographs the heck out of it.
4. hellfire rains down on the hobby.
5. Interest in the gun is renewed. A number of "worldcon" editions of the blaster are released, including the scope knob added to the side
6. Actual gun goes up for sale through profiles in history and is sold to a japanese collector.
7. Gun is then used to create the gun you see here.

Please help me fill in the details, and any other interesting anecdotes.

Re: Blade Runner Temonosuke Blaster Pro

Good acquisition Matt. I was thinking of getting one but instead decided to try and finish my real parts gun. I've heard lots of good things about this replica.

Re: Blade Runner Temonosuke Blaster Pro

Also, I did not realize how much of the gun would be metal. I was expecting it to be mostly resin.

And to answer what is no doubt one of the more pressing questions, there IS a bit of rattle to it. The arm/lever thingie has a little tiny bit of play to it.

Re: Blade Runner Temonosuke Blaster Pro

I put together a little video of the gun. I will upload to YouTube momentarily.

I finally opened the literature that shipped with the blaster. A very nice exploded view of the gun, and ALSO a photo scrapbook, filled with Karl's photos and a bunch from the profiles auction too.

I really never realized JUST how trashed the gun was by the time it got into Karl's hands. Definitely a lot of wear and tear.
