So a question - I could buy a real bulldog and have an all metal gun, right?
I think I'm willing to buy one and slap all this stuff onto it, and just never fire it....
You're looking for a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 special much like this one listed at Gunbroker.com:

This is one of the older guns, which should be more accurate, but Richard Coyle says you can use one of the newer stainless steel models as well. It's different in some details but should still fit after being modified. With either version you'd need to have a gunsmith remove the barrel and replace it with a custom made one that's the correct length, and have all the mounting holes drilled and tapped.
How do I know all this? I'm planning on doing exactly that, and I found some threads here on the RPF that talk about what it takes. If you live in the USA there's nothing illegal about it, but you should consider making the gun inoperative if you plan only to display it. In California, if a child took the gun from a display case and fired it, you'd be criminally liable. Your state laws may vary.
I think my kit arrives tomorrow!

Mine arrived today too!
Pictures please, what is it like?

One of my friends kept an unloaded pistol in his closet. The babysitter found it and reported him to the police. He'll never be able to legally own a gun again. Lesson learned the hard way. On the positive side his kids didn't shoot themselves with it.
how is it going to be as easy as going out and buying a bulldog pup and just slapping that stuff onto it? wouldn't you need a new barrel?do you want the double triggers? doesn't the hammer of the real gun have to be reworked. you guys just make it sound easy...
Ditto! HAPPY!!! Can't believe Customs didn't even open it. Awesome.
