Limited Run BLADE RUNNER 2049: Officer K (Ryan Gosling) Jacket/Coat - NOW SELLING

Received my Zlurpo coat recently, and it came out perfectly. I had a whole list of modifications, which he as able to accommodate.

The first request was that the coat be a black waxed cotton, which was only available as a slightly thinner weave apparently. I can't tell the difference, it feels very sturdy to me. The second big thing was that I wanted a coat that was symmetrical, without the wraparound collar. The third was the addition of three buttons instead of a hook or magnetic closure. I definitely recommend providing measurements for a custom fit. Nothing fits as well as a coat that was tailor made for you.

The coat feels well made, strong, and it is indeed warm and perfect for inclement weather. Here are some pics.

I love that waxed cotton look. It shines perfectly. I haven’t been able to create anything near that nice. I over-waxed mine and now I’m in the process of “de-waxing” to give it a cleaner look.

Any chance we can get a green, more screen-accurate color, waxed cotton that shines like that?

It's not something my guy had made, it's just a product that was available for him to buy. It's the same material used on the first prototype. As far as I know he doesn't have a way to get his custom color made with that process, but I'll ask again.

Thanks! I love the coat as it is, but a thinner material with more sheen would put it over the top.

I agree with MAJsmith. That is exactly the shiny look we are searching for. I do not understand that was'nt offered as an option.
Amazing look!

Has anyone who purchased a coat after the initial two runs received it yet? The estimate was 8-10 weeks, but it's been 14 weeks and I haven't heard anything. I ordered mine in early February, so I'm curious if anyone has ordered one since then and received it. I'm not in a rush (it's too warm for coats now anyway), but I worry it may have been lost by the Post Office.

Message me on etsy so I know which order is yours, I can check on the ETA.

I put the waxing process for my Zlurpo Jacket over on the 'Ryan gosling Officer K' Jacket thread ... the quality is absolutely fantastic so thank you very much. Time wise its was spot on to the date when it said it was going to dispatch. Its really a great quality jacket ...fabulous just fabulous! ...

Wanted to update everyone on my wax-work. It's tough work, but I'm happy with the way it's turning out. I've been using Otter wax bars, heavily applying, warming the wax before, warming it while applying, using lots of hand work to rub it in, and there's lots more work to come, but here are some photos of the progression thus far (link vs taking forever uploading here):

The wax actually brings out a greenish-bluish hue from the grey. The second Zlurpo coat I got (size Med vs size Sm) was actually a bit grey-er than the initial one, but I think it actually helped be a better base color for what the waxed color is turning out to be.

As for the "white bits", those are easily melted/rubbed in/ or just simply removed, but I'm waiting until I finish the sleeves to do minor touch ups.

All sort of aiming for this photo's look:

I also like the worn-in way the wax situates in the cotton - makes it fall nicer, a bit heavier, etc.

Anyway, hope everyone's well! It's been a long journey on this coat lol.

EDIT: one last thing I meant to say, though I think the photos speak for themselves, the wax definitely adds the 'shine' I was looking for, though other reports had suggested the wax makes it matte.

This is the final product for now. I doubled the dose of dye, cut the amount of alcohol, and sprayed the fur three more times. It's hard to tell in the pic, but it's actually quite darker. The left lapel looks darker than the right just because it's angled in the lighting. I may do one more spray later, but I want to let it sit for a while and let the wax finish curing to the fabric.

I see the coating took over the thread. :) I am personally much more interested in the collar dye. I like what MAJSmith achieved. Which method did you choose MAJ? Is there one tutorial agreed to be the best one?

Thank you!

I used a trio of ink dyes that I purchased in a set. They were yellow, green, and red. They all mix together to form a deep brown, which I then cut with rubbing alcohol. The method is posted here somewhere. I’ll try to track down the details. Just spray it on and rub in it. That’s it!

I love the job done on your collar. I also love the coat and I am terrified to destroy it. If you find a link to the exact method that you used, I'd highly appreciate it!

Cheers

Here’s the video made my Zlurpo himself. I followed the exact method and kept dyeing until I was satisfied.

Great! I somehow missed this video. Thank you.
Maybe it will help someone (from video description):
"These bottles actually hold 5 oz, or 150 ml. So I was using about 3 oz or 90 ml of isopropyl alcohol. Holds up to being washed in a washing machine. Inks I used: https://www.amazon.com/Ranger-TAK-B-25962-Adirondack-Brights-Dockside/dp/B0027XXAAA

You will also find the inks at ebay.com
