Wanted to update everyone on my wax-work. It's tough work, but I'm happy with the way it's turning out. I've been using Otter wax bars, heavily applying, warming the wax before, warming it while applying, using lots of hand work to rub it in, and there's lots more work to come, but here are some photos of the progression thus far (link vs taking forever uploading here):

The wax actually brings out a greenish-bluish hue from the grey. The second Zlurpo coat I got (size Med vs size Sm) was actually a bit grey-er than the initial one, but I think it actually helped be a better base color for what the waxed color is turning out to be.

As for the "white bits", those are easily melted/rubbed in/ or just simply removed, but I'm waiting until I finish the sleeves to do minor touch ups.

I also like the worn-in way the wax situates in the cotton - makes it fall nicer, a bit heavier, etc.

Anyway, hope everyone's well! It's been a long journey on this coat lol.


EDIT: one last thing I meant to say, though I think the photos speak for themselves, the wax definitely adds the 'shine' I was looking for, though other reports had suggested the wax makes it matte.

I realized that I never shared my "glamor shots" of Zlurpo's coat! These were taken at an arcade in Tokyo that's meticulously decorated to look like a Hong Kong slum.

We’re there any changes to the faceguard/cowl/upper collar portion between runs? As a smaller person (5’8”, 140 lbs), I assume that part of the coat will fit tightly on me, as it did in many of those who reviewed their coats from the first run. Assuming no changes have been made, is a looser-fitting, taller cowl a custom modification which could be accommodated? And for those of you with the coat, does it feel like it’s that big a deal or rather a non-issue?

Second question: based on the Etsy picture, it looks like the coat goes straight down from the waist rather than having some flare/taper out. How do you all feel your coat looks from the waist-down?

It may have been slightly adjusted to be 1-2cm larger. It hangs pretty straight if it's closed, but flares when it's open.

I had what i suspect is a cheap chineese clone of a mang jacket, i left it on a chair for a month and the sun bleached a large patch of the green dye to a yellowish colour lol. Now i'd like to get a decent replica yours seems the best out there!

I'm very interested in your jacket. One thing I noticed on your etsy images is the N7M00105 serial number is printed along the sleave at an angle instead of along the center line like K's in the film. Can I order it this way instead?

That is something I've addressed with my sewing team, it should be straight on all orders going out. I just never took new pictures.

How warm is this thing? We get crazy cold snaps of -30c or colder every year.
It might be a bit late to order for this season but if it's warm enough I'd definitely buy it for next year.

Definitely looking forward to ordering a waxed version like CityofTanis. I assume it never became available in the custom color even in the thinner weave/denim? what other waxed color options are there?
