Limited Run BLADE RUNNER 2049: Officer K (Ryan Gosling) Jacket/Coat - NOW SELLING

Wow. In testing I never used anywhere near that much. How dark did you go?

Sorry, when I mentioned using two bottles, I should have mentioned the size. I used a smaller 2-oz bottle. It was notably smaller than the one you used. And while you added a single smooth layer, I added a darker second layer to mimic the surface weathering. I used 2-3 ounces on the base, then another ounce on the weathering. And I used your recipe. So outside of the weathering, I think I probably matched your version closely.

Oh two bottles of the mixed dye. I thought you meant two bottles of the ink by itself.

Good to know with the fur dye, that’s this weekends project. I also settled on a new green for the laminating.
This is the 1st attempt. 82367F17-CB94-4D24-B4D4-972616689D6E.jpeg

this is the final color..6174187F-7689-4933-B502-3D64E5A4E981.jpeg623780EB-8CB3-4C61-AA86-C8FF0F2D8586.jpegit’s odd, when you lay the original canvas along side, it seems more brown then grey/green..

Thanks MAJ, I’m gonna do 2 toturial posts. 1 for the jacket color process and 1 for the fur dying, I’ve been messing around with some non-zlurpo pieces of fur, and I’m anxious to put it thru the actual test. I wanna take my time on the jacket color and get that process down. I’m hoping to have the laminating done by this weekend. Stay tuned...

Judging by everyone’s reviews, I guess I should have added some extra length to my custom
measurments. Fingers crossed that my second run coat will fit right. Has anyone tried to alter theirs to adjust the fit?

Sounds perfect. I’m in the second run, so still have some time before I start messing around with mine.

Not necessarily. I only added 1cm on chest and biceps and they really weren't required. There's plenty of room in it and everything fits well.

I send a few days a message to zlurpo regarding that question and also for add more room for the faceguard.

All in all, it didn’t take to long. About 2.5 hours with some short breaks to allow a few areas to dry. This weekend will be step 2 of the process.

I didn’t paint over the letters, and it is almost dry in these photos. Its a high gloss finish and rather on the stiff side. The 2nd half of the process knocks down the shine by at least 75% and the stiffness will be reduced to (hopefully) the feel of leather.

This is officially the first laminated replica around!
Looking forward for those tutorials.
Great work!

In my particular taste I love that leatherish shine.

Satin or Matte for stage 2?

Neither satin or Matte, thru much trial and error (more error) to achieve the leather-ish finish, I actually take a pneumatic sander and physically sand the painted areas. It knocks down the shine and takes the “crunch” out of the jacket. I did this to scrap canvas and it worked beautifully. So I did the inside parts of the jacket the same way and the finish stays a bit shiny in the seam areas and more dull in the larger open fabric areas. It gives the jacket some dimension and gives it a distressed look and feel.
