I had to re-sand and paint a couple areas that I wasn’t happy with, but there has been progress.
Don B how’s yours coming along?

Ita partially the lighting. The blue looks a lot darker in the picture. It’s pretty spot on to the reference I’m working from, but maybe it should lean a little more to baby blue.

okay, can I ask what your reference material is? I dont think baby blue is the way to go

I should rephrase. I don’t mean to paint it baby blue but only lean that way from what the colour appears to be in that picture.
The correct blue looks to have a fair bit of grey in it. I think Don was pretty close with his mix. I’m working from a combo of the screen used prop and a build that was nicely done. I’m not too concerned with 100% SA but I like to at least get close.

Lighting plays such a huge role with these colours. It’s hard to nail down just the right tones of blue and grey.

Yeah it has a lot of grey in it, actually I started with grey and then sneaked up on it with blue and white. This is mine that I just finished, it even looks more blue that in is in real life and this was my main reference. I hope you find the right color

So...yeah. I wasn’t happy with that blue on the grip. The hero grip seems to be almost a pastel colour with a gloss coat. I decided to stop messing around and get the airbrush out. After some mixing around with acrylics in sky blue/ robins egg blue/ grey/ and a hint of pacific blue I think I came up with something I can live with.
In this pic you can see where the touch up is still wet, but I think a clear gloss on this will work out.

Its better, but a bit light and missing a touch of blue I envy that you have an airbrush

As I said above, I hope I'm not hijacking your thread. Just glad to share my build while yours is ongoing.
No problem robotprops, I'm really happy that so many folks have joined in and getting loads of pleasure out of other people's work, ideas and successes. My life beyond prop making has been really busy over the last few months so really not moved much forward but bear with me!

I’m calling this done. I was surprised how difficult this was to paint. There are quite a few areas where the colour transitions sharply.
In the trigger hinge, I couldn’t figure a way to get LEDs in there and have a working trigger so I turned down a piece of acrylic rod and painted it with some glass paint so when it’s backlit it glows like an LED.
The kit weighs 257g out of the box. With the hardware and weight added I got it up to 398g. Or 14oz for you folks south of the 49th.
I’ll probably make a stand for it, but for now it sits ok on its own.

I think the handle color is off, too baby blue...Had my Luv Blaster painted by Chris Morris on Facebook fantastic job
I think It's the lighting but It works for me
Works for me too Obie71, one of the best I've seen. I really must stop letting life get in the way of finishing mine.
Had this one along with my original Luv balster painted By Chris Morris (huge thanks) as a weatherd water loged Luv blaster as part of an evidance file I'm putting together
