Bell X-1, large pics

A 1/32 Revell Bell X-1, last released in 1987.

The build was fairly easy, the decals were something of a nightmare. Revell doesn't include the correct national insignia, so I had to design my own. The original decals were so old that they shattered, so using a hi-res scan of the 1/18 decals (thanks again, Jock), I was able to re-size them, clean them up and add the missing red stripe.

Anyway, on to the pics.

The build progress can be found in the Group Build thread at the top of the forum.

Thanks, guys :$

Good to see there's still some love for non sci-fi (aka real life :lol) in this place.

Very nice. Been thinking of doing one of these myself...

Thanks, GH :cool

I suggest doing the Pegasus 1/18 kit. It's far easier to find and just about the same price. Plus, the decals won't be nearly as old and you can add tons of detail to the cockpit.

BEautiful model of a beautiful aircraft. now all you need is a nice display box and a runway dio

Thanks, JG :cool

Feek, in that photo, is that BuNo 6062? Looks like it may be another one. I have plenty of pictures that show 6062 "Glamorous Glennis", with the red stripe.
