Beetlejuice shrimp hand, knowledge on the tails?

I sculpted this Beetlejuice shrimp hand and casted several in latex, I sculpted it based off of Tom Spina's restoration photos. In the scope that didn't realize the fingertips were a little bit different than what we see on screen.

The shrimp tails I decided to replicate by cutting and gluing a cast of latex fish fins on the fingertips to try and replicate the look but it's still not quite there.

Does anyone know what they did to get the shrimp then look in the original prop? It looks more papery and significantly thinner than a rubber, thoughts?

Could it be latex brushed on a flat surface, and punched out with a custom cookie cutter in the shape of the fins?
