Battlestar Galactica 2003 scratch build

Would you believe I spent the entire weekend working on this one flight pod and I’m not even done with it? I popped the bottom off an added fiber optic to the front and rear entrance and I accidentally got glue on the damn things and they got brittle and snapped off, all that work for nothing. Anyway this is the latest update… I can’t believe this building this from scratch, it’s insane

Sucks about the fibers. Superglue is like Kryptonite for them

All things considered though, it is a massive undertaking and you have made surprisingly quick progress

Yeah, I could probably rip the bottom off and do it again but if the four one still works and that’ll do, it’s in the rear, the front should be ok as long as I’m more careful. These were an afterthought though
Should have done it way prior but even then the accident probably would have still happened
And thanks, I seem to have tunnel vision on this project LOL

Well my friends here’s the latest. Unfortunately I lost all eight of the fiber optics I had running to the entry and exit arches to the flight pods but I suppose it’s not the end of the world. I did a Google doc and got as close as I could to the proper font which I’ll have to modify a little bit when I cut the letters out of plastic but I think it’s gonna look pretty good

Sucks about the fibers, but the font for the nameplate looks great

Maybe an alternative to the fibers could be something like these extremely tiny things which are probably as small as the fibers themselves

"These are the smallest light source we offer, much, much smaller than our 0402 SMDs and are like the head of a straight pen... they are that small! In fact, these are so small that the normal numeric numbering system really doesn't apply with these. That is why we call these units "SMALLEST SMD"

Well, I suppose I could get away with prying up some of the outer parts and hide the wiring with something like that. I’ll look into that, thanks Blake!

Without knowing much about what would be involved, or how much room there is, could you drill through to the interior roof and run the wires that way? They could be disguised as piping or roof details?

But then again, not sure how long the wires are or how much of a problem the resistors will cause

Well the pod is all buttoned up now, I’d have to lift some plating and make a tiny tunnel for the wires which would be delicate surgery but not impossible. I just hate to finish it off and regret later not doing something. I ordered some Z size smd’s from Evan Design this morning so I’m gonna have at it

Ok, so today I finished ribbing the bottom and did some armor plating on the top front. I dremmeled a trench along the inner side just above where the armor plating will go, for the wiring of the Z size smd’s when I go to put those in. I will have to pop the doorway plating back off but I can always redo that if I ruin it
