Your forgetting the origions of the Barbarella comic book, I believe this was one of the very first Erotic sci-fi comics.
Therefore, I think this rifle design's sex appeal come from the rather "Phallic " looking male front end.
And Feminine form from it's curvy wooden parts and the woman's hand for a stock.
I guess you can call this rifle "BiSexual" :lol
