Barbarella's "Sexy" Laser Rifle

Howdy,

I have always loved Barbarella's Sexy-looking laser rifle, you know.... that strange-looking wood and chrome metal rifle with a woman's hand for a stock.

I'm putting together a new woodshop, so I thought I might tackle some of my favorite props that has wooden parts, and this would be one of them.

I've never seen any Barbarella props discussed on this forum before, so I was just wondering what you guys think of this piece?

Great idea. I'd really like to see some of these made .
Only time I've sen Barbarella-style guns/props mentioned before was in a "classic ray-gun" thread a couple of yrs back. Other guns included was a replica of an original series Flash Gordon gun which was really cool.

Haven't seen any props but I did come across a resin model of her that included the gun.

It's the butt plate for the same rifle, or at least that's what it appears from the first shot above... :lol

Couple more of the rifle and a few of some other weapons.

It's been forever since I've seen the movie so I don't recall if any of these were actually seen.

You can find these on eBay from time to time, although I've never seen one in the blue color, just black. Judging by the seam lines in other pics, I doubt they took the time to paint it :lol

Thanks for the info, didn't know about the toy gun..... but that pistol wasn't used in the film.

Same for the chrome tube-looking gun. It wasn't used on film, It looks like some incomplete prop that they dugged out for a few publicity shots. For years I thought it was left over parts from the laser rifle in Forbidden Planet.

And the long barrel rifle she is seen holding in the Life magazine cover looks very cool. This rifle was not seen in the film but the style looks to match other weapons used in the film, so I'm assuming it was made for the movie but not used.

As for the name of the "sexy" rifle in question, in the movie Barbarella refers to it as "Mini Missile Projector"..... I believe.

I'd love to get a replica of the long rifle with the psychadellic-wavy stock that wasn't actually used in the film. Actually, if someone could produce the stocks I'm sure I could manage the barrel and muzzle..

Very cool idea- I haven't seen these produced but would love to see this surface. The rifle reminds me of Sarin's (sp?) men's guns in Galaxyquest.

My TiVo picked Barbarella out for me last weekend but it was regular TV and many memorable scenes were cut. I went out and grabbed the DVD but haven't watched it yet.

Am I the only one that thinks that gun looks very HR Giger- the front looks like the chestburster, anyway, I always liked that movies and the guns, not just "hers" are cool. I know she took lots of heat for being a flake later on, but man did she define sexy right there or what? A cool project. I think it has shades of giger.

Not to sidetrack but the ship's computer was pretty cool as well with the rising and falling shutters- Might be worth considering-
