Bandai release schedule

I consider the Falcon mandibles to be variable geometry in early form- they would close and grip a cargo container to 'push'. Han locked them down with a slight toe in when he installed those large deflector pods in the top crossing over where the saucer and mandibles meet.

bandai just announced new LED kit. It's clearly for lighting up regular version of the new ISD, but it's description is so unspecific, that there is a chance that it might be used for more than just one kit. ROTJ Falcon in december?

Also, FFG just announced few more models for their games: Onager ISD (looks like modified standard ISD with death star laser - I'm not sure what to think about it, because even in old EU they tried to keep such things for unusually big ships), rebel Starhawk (big capital ship made from kitbashed imperial ships?), ~1/48 AAT droid tank and ~1/48 republic tank:

Ooo! Finally, a visual for the Starhawk! Nope, they're the first New Republic newbuilds. The only three in existence at the time were at the Battle of Jakku, a year after ROTJ.

[Edited to clarify: They weren't kitbashes, but, yes, they were built from disassembled captured Imperial ships. i.e., raw materials, not full subassemblies. They're not captical ship "uglies".]

It's possible that it can be for other kits outside of the Star Wars line; the original white LED was used on the 1/144 Falcon and the 1/2 BB-8, as well the MG F91 Gundam 2.0, the Figure-rise Haro, and IIRC one of the Space Battleship Yamato kits.

Isn’t that the lighting set from the PG Millennium Falcon? I forget how many LEDs it has, but that one looks kind of familiar.

The RG 1/144 look really great. The engineering is top notch as is always the case with Bandai.

I can vouch for the RG range. The engineering is miles ahead of other companies. Some of the finished models are extremely fragile, and will fall apart if you look at them wrong, but that’s easy to fix with a drop of glue. They’re a real education to build, though. The later ones, like the Sazabi, are excellent.

Upon closer inspection it IS the lighting kit from the P-Bandai PG Falcon:

So yeah, Standard Edition MF builders, eat your heart out.

I hope this means we get a 5 gear Sequel Trilogy Falcon though.

yamato used standard round bandai LEDs afaik. Even if that pack would be used outside of SW line I'd be still interested what they're planning to do with it :p
Unfortunately you're right, it's Falcon unit. I was sure that it has offered support for 5 leds max, so I assumed that ISD gets something new for 6 led support.

Eh, sounds like a missed opportunity to be honest (like the whole disney canon lol). I've liked the idea, execution not so much because how blocky it is (but said to myself "eh, it's just * capital ugly*, it shouldnt be anything special"), but knowing now that it's entirely new design I'm quite dissapointed by how they just took nebulon B, made it bigger, covered it in armor and called it a day. And I thought that Raider was repetitive and unimaginative.

Before I take the plunge in making the Revell Tydirium shuttle model kit more accurate, any whisperings that Bandai is making an Imperial shuttle? Or still a long long ways if ever

Personally, I would not hold my breath. Bandai may have a vehicle model collection version in mind, but based on their recent releases the past couple of years, 1/350 might be the size they go for first. A 1/144 version seems like it might be a big risk cost wise without testing the waters with a smaller one. A 1/72 version is probably a pipe dream.

Besides that the only time things ever get seem to get released is when you give up hope and start doing tons of work to make an MPC or Revell model accurate or scratch build one after overpaying for it as a last resort :D. Usually right as your near completion, or shortly after finished.

So going by that superstition we need as many people as possible to start work on the MPC or Revell shuttle :p

It happened to me with the "1/72" MPC Space 1999 Eagle that pretty much requires you to rebuild the entire thing and it's not even 1/72.
It also happened with the B-Wing as I had started heavily modifying a Fantastic Plastic 1/72 one
and with the MPC Star Destroyer when Zvezda and then Bandai came out with one
I have also started on the MPC Shuttle Tyderium but had been waiting for years ever since Fine Molds had the license

That's at least 3 projects that I have shelved since they still need so much work when I can build the others out of the box and instantly have a better model

Thanks for the reply! That's what I was afraid of lol I've held off on working on my shuttle in the futile hope there would be some news from Bandai, but I suppose I'll be waiting awhile. Can't even imagine how some folks felt putting in hundreds of hours into their 1/72 Falcon and then Bandai dropped their Perfect Grade Falcon. I suppose I'll start, although I do have a slew of other Bandai kits just waiting on the shelf ;)

Isn't the MPC Tyderium a better kit?

It depends on what you are looking for out of the kit

I think the Revell kit looks more accurate and the basic shapes are more like the studio model, especially in the cockpit shape and angle. Although it has very simplified details in places

For me, the advantage of the MPC one is it is a bit larger (I think around 1/89) so it can shoehorn itself in with 1/72 without looking too out of place if you set it in the back considering things like the Fine Molds Falcon and Tie Fighters are in the 1/80 to 1/90 range anyway.

The Revell one fits more in the 1/100 to 1/144 range and looks better with smaller stuff like the Revel U-Wing, pocket X-Wing, MPC AT-At, MPC B_Wing and Hot Wheels tie fighters. Stuff that is closer to 1/110

omg it's been a couple of years since my last Bandai kit and I'm freaking out! €50 for Grievous and you have to make him a custom cloak? yikes! Imho these figures are not that good. Man I remember buying their stuff for around €25-€30. What happened? I've done a search but didn't find anything specific. Just a new, agressive pricing strategy?

It seems they are just rather fond of the Grevious kit. Perhaps it took more to make?
