Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)

THIS is huge information! Thanks!

Just sign up on Amazon Japan, switch the language to English.
You can purchase items to ship to the US, their shipping fees are quite reasonable. Only Amazon-sold non-food items can usually be purchased this way.

If in Japan and using a Japanese address (like a convenience store) you can purchase nearly anything, even from 3rd party sellers.

No problems using credit cards with a foreign mailing address either. Try to use one with no foreign exchange fees and skip the extra FOREX charges.

The only things difficult to purchase with a non-Japanese card are typically software licenses, and iTunes and Sony cards that are region restricted.

You can pick the store to deliver it to at the checkout page.

it's awesome to use while visiting Japan. Do all your shopping online and spend time enjoying yourself instead of running around trying to find that "one thing" you need to get.

andyland - That's a much sturdier mount than I'm using. Do you mind sharing the source? Thanks!

I'm using our collective lockdown time to finally paint my Falcon. I did a bunch of other SW models as a warm up before attacking this build and to get a feel for Guy's Archive-X paints. This is my work in progress so far:

Here it is, from my build thread. I like the mount a lot. I used it while building and I'll be using it when I photograph it, too.

The part looks like the one designed by Lab. I’ve posted it here with his permission.

Actually I already have that.STL printed and installed in my model. I was admirering the camera armature mount.

Ahhh, the tripod is this:

And the adjustable mount is something like this (can't find the actual mount... purchased from Nat'l Camera Exchange several years ago):

I also have these (purchased with the tripod)

Think I'm gonna call mine done. I mean, I'll likely find little things to fix (still might attempt to add magnets to the back access panel) but I'm very happy with how this thing came out. Now, I need to borrow a smoke machine to try some more photos. And build a base for it. And...

Looks fantastic! Nice work (y) I might have dirtied mine up too much

andyland - That second link is just what I was looking for. The mount I've been using isn't study enough to allow me to really give the model a nice side bank without worry.

Yeah, those mounts can be a little large, but the one I have has little "teeth" that hold it in place nicely. It's a Phottix Varos II BG (which appears to no longer be available) but this one is very similar. Absolutely beautiful work! Well done sir (y) For myself, I pretty much lean towards landed displays of my builds. It allows one to show off more lighting. I did mine up with the Shapeways extra landing gear pieces (ESB) so I've got 5 gear wells lit and I also got the Shapeways corridor piece for the top of the boarding ramp with R2 at the top. Just a matter of personal preference though.

Thank you for reminding me about R2!

Love the idea of R2D2 in the corridor! The only thing i was a little disappointed with this kit is that the ramp doesn’t open & close. I would prefer it to having to swap the whole ramp piece and then placing the closed piece.

The top is about 95% done, I still need to work the sides and bottom. I build a studier stand so I could really tilt without worrying. There's room underneath for and arduino to drive the engine lights (also a todo).

I put it up for the evening to enjoy and take a peek at how it will look when finished:

Nicely done.

A simple diorama could be done with a vape device inside a glass enclosure. Put a crinkled plastic bag on the floor. And you'd have the space slug interior. :)

Of course, I have no idea if the vapour from the device would leave any deposits over time.
