Bandai 1/144 scale Millennium Falcon paint selection

Hi

I am about to start building a Bandai 1/144 falcon. I’m looking for some paint colour advice, preferably in the Vallejo air line, as I already have a selection of that and it’s easy to purchase. I’d love to get Archive x paints but it’s cost prohibitive getting them shipped to Australia. I already have tamiya insignia white for the base coat.

If anyone could make any suggestions or would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, right now i am in the process of testing vallejo model air paints for use with bandai millennium falcon pg 1/72. I'll use AS-20 as the base color (but I'm still thinking about 71.119).

As for the other colors, I would also like to use Archive X (maybe in the future). I currently have the following types which Vallejo paints correspond to specific Archive X paints. I don't have all Vallejo paints so it's a matter of mixing.

Paints for airbrushing are prepared in the following proportions: 6 drops of paint, 2 drops of thinner 71.361 and 1 drop of flow improver 71.362.

At this stage I have (number of drops in brackets):
- boxcar red: 71.084 (3), 71.105 (2), 71.048 (1)
- dark refeer grey: 71.048 (2), 71.046 (4)
- light refeer grey: 71.046 (5), 71.048(1) but I think the best ratio would be 11:1 or just 71.046 (6); in the photo there is a reference with 71.046
- sp lettering grey: 71.046 (2), 71.119(4); preferably 5:7 but I'm still not satisfied with this color and still looking for the right shade
- concrete: 71.320 (2), 71.298 (3), 71.119 (1)
- foundation: 71.348 (4), 71.320 (1), 71.074 (1) as a light layer or 71.348 (4), 71.074 (2)

For weathering I will use 71.048 and 71.259 (stains)

In a week or two I will also make a post on the forum where I will publish the effects of both painting and the selection of vallejo paints to get the closest effect to the reference photos of the studio scale model.

Good luck with your model!
