Bandai 1/12 R5-D4 with Lighting

I started R2's little buddy from the Sandcrawler in ANH... R5-D4. He was primed to take R2's spot until his motivator went bad... This is going to be him in his prime... way, way before that bad motivator...

Personally I always thought somehow R2 had sabotaged R5. it is one of those things I always thought was in the movie, but actually isn't

Of course, there is always the "Skippy the Jedi droid" theory

I *think* the radio serial inserted a scene in which R2 sabotages R5 during the droid auction. Which, if my memory is correct, might be where you got the idea.
That said, why is it always called a droid auction when it’s merely a sale to a single client with no auctioneer?

Not much to report tonight... Just working on the base colors and routing the wiring for the led. I've decided to use magnets this time to attach and remove R5, sorry... Skippy... from his base. I've had these tiny little magnets lying around for just this type of purpose and forgot about them.

I just realized I still need to do the red strips on either side of his front compartment and the decal pinstripe on his head... Then I can weather...lol...

You know where you might find it is at Hobby Lobby... If you have one close by... Or your trusted hobby shop may have it. If not, Amazon and eBay are always stocked.

I've got a Hobby Lobby within 40 minutes of me (up near Nazareth PA). it is where I get my Vallejo paints from as well as some of the Bandai kits ( gotta love those coupons)

There is also a hobby place called Trains and Lanes near there that I like to check in as well

Ugh... I forgot about Hobby Lobby's coupons! 40% off a Bandai kit is a great deal... I will have to go there today...lol...

The one of two that are close enough for me to go to typically only have the newer kits, but both still have some 1/48 AT-STs and Luke's Snowspeeder.

They also have Luke in Stormtrooper armor and the Death Star II/Star Destroyer kit, plus Poe's 1/72 boosterd X-wing and the mecha Resistance Vehilce set witht eh two 1/144 T-70s and 350 Falcon

They used to the the 1/72 X-Wings and Y-wings but they sold out of those. Never saw the 1/72 B-Wing or A-Wings there or some of the 1/144 Falcons

Although I did recently pick up the 1/144 X and Y kit there at 40% off of $19

I got the x and y wing kit for Christmas. It's my second one and will make the trench run diorama that much better! I did pick up the Death Star II and Star Destroyer kit from my local Hobby Lobby.
