Back to the Future II: Marty's Jacket (the holy grail of BTTF props)

Awesome wat'd u do to the sleeves? Damn i sooo want to add like 13 inches to my sleeves haha!

I'm gonna wear mine to our state fair tomorrow along with my Mags and see how many heads i can turn lol

Ralph,

That jacket looks really good!... I love the foam weather stripping... Its very convincing...

Thanks Ed! I'm still looking for that office chair part for the belt. I may have to use engine timing belts to finish.

Maybe someone can tackle this project in close future. It must be a hell of work to make this jacket, but maybe someday there is someone who can make an acurate jacket for less. It works very good that way with the Nike Shoes...

awesome jacket, btw...

I've read the whole topic, and I've found several references to office chair parts for the cuffs and belt of the jacket. Exactly, what part of an office chair are we talking about? I'm sitting on an office chair right now and there's nothing that even resembles the cuffs and belt of the jacket.

It is the part holding up the seat back on this style of chair:

But apparently it is hard to find the right size. Most of the real chair parts are too big, even for the waistline part. The cuffs are even smaller.

Perhaps we're not looking at this chair thing 3 Dimensionally. Perhaps if the back support was cut along the depth not the width. It would be the correct size.

I have seen our local WalFart has new chairs in that look close to the right size.

Cheers

Anyone have a link to where I can buy the red mats used for this jacket? thanks!

The real prop didn't use the mats but used foam rubber castings of the UV Office light diffusers with the diamond patterns on them.

I plan on having a go at this jacket in the future, but not for a while. I'd really like to make a correct lenticular hat first. So far, no one has.

VERY nice GeneralFrosty! Looks like Ed outdid himself yet again. Isn't it a great feeling to see and hold it in person? I'm very happy for you, you must be very excited right now. Please post more pics!

More pics to come!
This thing is BEYOND incredible - the colors and details are spot on.
I am going to contact him though about possible modifications.
The shoulders are too wide on me by at least 2" on either side and the cuffs are way too big - I'm hoping this is something he can modify - it not, it still makes one of the BEST display pieces and the most detailed and accurate BTTF prop I own.
This has been a LONG time coming for me and I am SO relieved I was there begging Ed to make this jacket all those years ago!

That is a beautiful jacket! Although not my favorite BTTF prop it is still an iconic piece.
