Back to the Future II: Marty's Jacket (the holy grail of BTTF props)

Can't wait to get my jacket!! Ed's work is incredible!!
It's crazy - in just a short amount of time, and I'm talking a few months apart, I'm getting almost ALL of my "Holy Grail" props; The Rocketeer jetpack and Marty's shoes and jacket.

nice 1 Ed, just wish u would make more for us guys!!:lol

I bet Ed wishes he could make more too!
Unfortunately, this kind of thing involves an incredible amount of work since every piece is custom molded. It's not as simple as sewing off-the-shelf fabric together.
The red material alone is several layers of rubber so it IS an intense process to make these.

He should show us how to produce em and toss us into a sweatshop, i'll definitely work there! LOL

would it be possible to incorporate these into the sleeves?

Eddies jacket is TRULY amazing.. BETTER than the real deal , so much more care and attention to wearability detail. The real deal was falling apart after 20 years, Eddies will still be strong ... something you can pass along to your great grandkids! GREAT SCOTT!!

giddyup'

AAAAaannnd, first time its been made available, its on eBay!

Good luck Eddie! Lets hope some super rich English rappers want a matching jacket for their shoes!

Thanks for all the compliments guys... And thanks for posting that link Ken. I know a lot of people will probably have remarks about the price, understandably... Unfortunately there is only one of me and its alot of work... If only i had a sweat shop like Nike ;)

I hope you get your price Eddie. That jacket is FLAWLESS! Anytime you want to invite me over so that you can show me how to make my own jacket at your place would be A-O-K with me! ;)

Hi everyone. I'm new to the group but the banter about the 2015 jacket has been great fun to follow. Great work on this jacket! I've never attempted to create anything this detailed and from scratch. Do you think there'll ever be an attempt at tutoring us on the methods, etc? I can't imagine how proud you must be to look at your completed jacket once it's been fully created and assembled. Wow. Thanks!:thumbsup

If you asked an Illusionist to share how he does his tricks, you could imagine his response would be - or should be - similar to Ed's if you ask him to share his secrets.
Ed has been working on this for so many years, it's his baby.
I don't speak for him but would venture to guess that if you want to make one you are going to have to figure out the methods on your own.

Hi Edward,
Congratulations on the awesome replica you've made. I signed up here just to comment on it. I was wondering if you have any pictures of somebody wearing the jacket other than the one you posted earlier? The guy who wore it in the picture is too small which made him swim in the jacket. I'm curious to how it looks on a guy with the right size. You know, to see how everything falls.

Hi All, I am new to this forum, but I had to register just to let you know incredibly talented Ed is at fabricating and building these pieces.
I bought and am the proud owner of the first 2015 jacket from Ed some time ago and also recently won the winning bid on the most recent jacket from Ed on Ebay. I have been collecting screen used, and replica props for some years now, and I must say honestly, Ed's work is by far the best I have ever seen. To answer the most recent question, from "TheNutrient" I am 6' tall and the jacket fits perfect.
I know I won the high bid on Ebay, but honestly, Ed's work is priceless. If he makes a third, I will gladly bid on it again.
Lastly, I must say that I am truly amazed at all the talented individuals on this forum. The work displayed here is truly incredible. I only wish I was that talented. Much respect to everyone on this forum and their hard work.
Ed,,,,please make the matching 2015 Nike Bag with built in single plug power strip to plug in and charge the 2011 release of the NIKE mags!!!!
Cheers!

Dang dude, how many jackets do you need? :eek Welcome to the forum, nice to see the owner of jacket #1 chiming in.

I've been meaning to post for a while now, but I'm the purchaser of Ed's most recently completed jacket, the one in the youtube video he posted a couple weeks ago. This is going to sound like repeating others' comments, but it's completely true.... Ed's work on these is second to none. It really is like having a brand new screen used jacket. I can't stress enough how happy I am with it, it's really a milestone off the wishlist of dream props.
And while it was a lot of money, it was absolutely worth every penny. Ed puts soooooo much work into these, as opposed to another certain item that is priced very high but is made in a factory in China (ehem, cough - I think we all know what that is). The feeling of amazing workmanship and talent is just all over this thing.
Ed is truly the man and my hat is off to him for bringing this dream that so many of us have to life. He gave me the go ahead to post some pics, so here are a couple. The first is the jacket sitting on the stand I just made for it, and the other is my friend and I at DragonCon earlier this month.

Cool, man! I got those red mats from Wal-Mart too for my home-made McFly jacket! posting pics asap..

Hey guys,

Here's my modified Mcfly jacket. I used a random $20 jacket from Wal-Mart, kitchen mats, foam weatherstrips, and foamies..I'm still not sure if i wanna use the office chair part for the cuffs and belt which are hard to find(any help on this? anyone?) or just use car engine timing belt. The jacket is about 90% done. Sorry for the small pics..
