Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build NEW VIDEO JACKET pg 27!!!

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

Its description says that it's shrink resistant. I will probably need a lot of this stuff to make enough sleeves.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

It doesn't matter anymore. I'm not going to go this rout after all. It will be too expensive and my jackets are supposed to be relatively inexpensive. I'll see what Jedifyfe does and see if he has a better alternative way.

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

This picture pretty much shows that the sleeves are built up from flat "rubber" and glued together. The bellow must be the only part that is casted in a round mold.

And you guys call yourselves fans..... sheesh! Didn't you spend every single minute on the internet in Sept of 2011 looking at Nike Mag stuff?!?!

Nope, I was there. NIKE even rented my Pepsi Perfect botteles from me to put in the Cafe 80's. I also got to hold and personally inspect one the first pairs of Mags. :thumbsup

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

They are inverted pyramid shapes. so one should only need to pour urethane over it.

Sorry, i was wrong. I just checked the smaller sized lightcover that i have and they are not Inverted (tho they look like that from the angle.)

I was Wrong and Right, Just discovered:facepalm that i have a light armatures in the kitchen and that part is the larger sized diamond shapes, and they are in fact inverted pyramid shaped. Just took it down from the ceiling, and poured some latex on it to check the shape when it dries.

This Jacket looks easier and easier to be able to build.:thumbsup

Edit : Is also trying out a metod to make the correct texture on the sleeve material:thumbsup

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I was just having a think about how to make those baffles for the sleeves. If you cut out a heap of circular shapes as pictured [below] and glue [or stitch, material pending] them together so A is to A and B, when you pull that up, would it work as a bellow?

Re: Back to the Future II 2015 Jacket Build

would it work as a bellow?

yes that would work but the look of the bellow would be depending on the material used. If the material is too flimsy it will not keep the round shape as it should do.

The other part of the sleeve is the flimsy part but the bellow keeps round as you can see in this picture :

If and when i start my jacket I will try to make the jacket on the left instead. It looks to me that its bellow is just a ring with ridges and not really a functional bellow.

A little update on my Latex test :

Did change the color with photoshop and believe this could work:thumbsup
Just need a black wash in between the edges.

Contect can you give a tutorial on how to do the material? I would need to know how to lay the latex mold?

It's simple, just do a couple of thin layers of latex over the lightcover and let it dry. Then powder it to make it stop sticking to each other and slowly pull it away and powder at the same time. Ready :)

For my bellows im basically thinking of making up a 12inch tube of thin rubber and gluing these 7 inch plastic rings I have into the inside of the tube.

How much latex you think I would need to do a full jacket not much right?

Guys if you offer batmj jacket on eBay $180 he will take it.

I'm gonna actually use the batmj jacket for my conversion and put plastic rings in the bellows to make them more sturdy so there not drooping too much.

How good is that jacket? Is it all leather? I see it's a third off right now so very tempted to pick one up.
