WOW that is impressive and I think could give an excellent result for this project if the right 'pattern' can be found.
Is the light fitting surface small pyramids? If so, you need to cast that first, then do the urethane on cloth from there. The reason being is I used a PCV rubber mat (might just paint a section of this for my jacket) to make the "waffle" effect on my clear soles for my MAGs. The mat is a series of small pyramids. The negative is a 'waffle' looking effect.
Not to go too far OT and drag this back to the shoes, but the real MAGs have this "waffle" on the sides only and the sole bottom is this cluster of small pyramids. The only way I can think of to recreate this is to take an imprint off the master, then take an imprint of that. Master is positive, copy is negative. Copy the the copy and you have another positive.
