B9 Robot from Lost In Space

I cast clear resin eyes for my robot using drops of colored mica powder and resin color to create the idea of an iris and pupil.

Great job! I saw your post on the B9 Builder's FB group today, and happy to see you posting here as well. I've always thought that the B9 builders would benefit from a forum like the RPF to share their knowledge and showcase their work. Glad to see you here!

Nice to see you here as well! I think the RPF is a better way to archive a build. The Facebook group is amazing, but hard to search for details.

First test cast from my arm mold. There was one small bubble I needed to patch and a little power mesh floating around the tip, but great casting overall. Ecoflex silicone with embedded power mesh for strength and tear protection. I'm going to make a few changes to my core design before casting more and I might try Dragon Skin 10 silicone just for comparison. I love the Ecoflex, but it is REALLY soft! Perfect for the neck bellows, but I might want a bit more structure for the arm.

I upgraded to an H2D printer which is large enough to let me print the parts for my radar in single pieces. I designed it in parts to simplify sanding and painting. Printed in PET-CF or PAHT-CF depending on how much flex I thought the part should have.

3D printing is such a game-changer!

On the original B9, there were orange flashing bulbs at the end of the brain fingers. I want to use LED's so I made a mold and cast resin covers for the finger lights. I to have some motion in the color reminiscent of the bussard collectors on the TOS Enterprise, so these are yellow and orange swirled resin with some mica powder.
