AVP Armor Templates By VinMan

This is excellent :D ive scaled some of these up on AutoCAD so I can just cut them out and glue them on some foam and plastic sheets. Works a treat :D

dude this is so freakin helpful, you have no idea how much you just helped this poor noob out

hey, if you don't mind how did you get the curve to the sholder pads?

I am using large diameter PVC drain pipe.
Print out the template, use spray adhesive and slap right on the pipe and cut out the shape
using a Dremel with a cut off wheel. You can boil in water to shape or use a heat gun.
the pipe already has a curve to it.

Good luck

great stuff!
now only thing I NEED (not sure about anyone else who visits this forum) is a kickass bio template as the ones i made out of cardboard for my son and the one i made out of packing foam blocks for me i am not satisfied at all with them even though many people like the one i made from cardboard. i just feel that since my wife me and our kids are planning a trip to salem mass. in halloween of "09" i should look good and not some reject that the Yautja wont allow in any clans! lol

hey vinman mac

these are the best

also thanks for the cannon i got from you a while back looking good on the costume

yes that is great!

I have to tell you guys, if there is any way you can get your hands on sintra sign plastic that is the way to go!
It is easy to cut. boil it and shape it. it takes paint great. It is real light weight.
But it gives you the rigidness that you expect in real armor. You can scar it and paint it with hammered metal and it looks like the real deal!
i will add some more photos later when i get these shoulder bells painted up.

later

Thanks for posting that...I plan to use the sintra plastic as well (and possibly 5 gallon buckets) glad to see they came out so nice.

hey nice stuff but for the should pads, how do they make them stiff?

the shoulder pads in the photo were cut from rigid Sintra sign plastic. i got large scrap pieces from a local sign company for free. Some will be happy to sell for cheap.

Trace the template onto the plastic and cut with a dremel cut off wheel or whatever you chose. Sand burs to clean up.
Then boil pieces in a large pot for 20 or 30 seconds. It will be totally flexible and will conform to any shape you bend it to. when you are happy with the shape run it under a cold tap and it will freeze in that shape. you can reheat the whole thing or certain spots until you have it down.
When you get one perfect boil and wrap the others around the first one and so on so they are all identical in curve

How are the individual pieces joined together?

Sterling work guys, just started working on a set of templates for Wolf armour. Haven't worked out the best way to add the relief that is on every part yet but got the shoulder, legs, chest and cod piece made out in sections. I'll post up some pics when I get some pieces cut and moulded. Making it all from Foamex (Sintra).

Wow, these are great. Can't believe I've missed this whole thread up till now! I might well be referring back to it soon. :(
