Avengers new costumes revealed in teaser poster

@Tigerblood- good find! That now both simplifies and complicates this reproduction. I don't have to stress about finding the exact weave of fabric, but now I have to find good quality fabric in those shades AND get them screen printed with that pattern.

@Gemini- I can see it too. Stark probably designed this suit, and his armor designs could have potentially influenced it. I was also thinking, a rigid urethane tinted the right shade. It most certainly has a rubber look to it.

I think you can find that kind of pattern on a fabric already. I've seen stuff like this here in italy. That shouldn't be too hard to find I think ;)

High res pic! It looks like theres a zipper running up the side and the 'flap' part of the chest overlaps, concealing the top. Look at that beautiful star on the chest! :O

So screen printed fabric it is. Great. That's manageable. I wonder what the base fabric was- a normal fabric, or a heavy stretch fabric? I'm pretty sure there are a few places in my town that I can get the regular fabric screen printed, but I'm not sure about any stretch material.

I know someone emailed the costume designer for Captain America and asked about fabric for his costume on that movie, so I wonder if we could do the same for The Avengers??

Caps new costume looks like layers of neoprene to me in most spots with Latex stomach.

After seeing the hi res pics of CA, I spoke too soon on the latex stomach.

Tigerblood,

Do you really think that the fabric is screenprinted? It really looks textured or woven to me. This situation sort of reminds me of the hunt for the TDK mesh fabric.

Hmm. Ok. It's looking more and more like this suit is actually 100% spandex. I can clearly see navy blue jumbo spandex on the underarms and lower chest.

There is a small section that doesn't have any print or pattern on it, and you can see that the fabric is the exact shade as the darker blue printed parts.

I've been scouring over the interwebs over hundreds of motocross boots trying to find an accurate base shoe. I've got a few ideas for the upper, but it's the black rubber sole I'm looking for. Anyone have any ideas?

That's awesome that it's all spandex! Should be waaay easier to get done!

The boots...I got nuttin on them. Can't find squat. Are we sure that they are motocross boots, not possibly some trick hiking boots with all the added "stuff" put on them? I may be off here, but don't motocross boots have a steel cap on the front of the toe?

I just assumed they were motocross boots, no actual proof. And now that you mention it, they very well could be hiking boots, based upon the waterproofing on the toe.

Definitely doesn't look like screen printed to me. And I was able to replicate the Black Widow fabric some time back. ;)

Best bet for real accurate gloves and boots is gonna be UD Replicas

I agree with screen printing because if you look at the collar, on the inside, that same texture isn't there. It's the same color, but smooth.

Studying the pics once more I am not certain anymore. :lol I'm back to thinking it is screen printed. I'll eat my words if someone finds the EXACT fabric. Not the close enough fabric. ;)

And the screen printing is done to the material before sewing.

And there appears to be inserts behind the abs and maybe the pecs.

yeah I think that's just the mannequin, I wouldnt see a need for an undersuit with the shape evans is in at the moment

Imho it's not spandex. Why the zip then? There are many fabrics that are a little stretchy. Spandex is too shiny and glossy to look like that. I don't think it's screen printed either. I think it's a fabric. I'm not in Rome so I cannot go to take a look in some of the stores I use to go to, but I'm pretty sure it's a fabric that has the embossed squares on it. Looks like the light hits the square in different ways, and could not happen with screen printed.

Look at the hi-res pictures confusion put here: Captain America's Uniform | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I say this because screen print a fabric it's tough. So i HOPE it is not ahahahah :D

Not all spandex has a shimmer/shine. And the zipper is likely there because those inserts in the abs take away a lot of the stretch.

Nice to know! I have a friend that uses a lot of spandex, I'll ask her if she can find me some. Can anyone tell me how screen print works and who does it? Just curious, I think spidey suit was done in the same way right?
