looks like they just used that Oakley boot and recasted the soles. That will be the convenient way to do it. Smooth-On is a grace from God ya'know?
I wish we could just recast them. I wonder what the return policy is for those boots...
wow fast! looks promisingI like the new costume, especially the new helmet/cowl. I was wondering if anyone had any better pics of the cowl from the front? I'm working on a pep model of the new helmet and need better reference pics. This is what I got so far.
Yeah, the boots aren't dead-on perfect match, with the eyelets being very different. But the soles are the thing. For that price, I'd MUCH prefer being able to wear them everyday! :cool But, in our pursuit of our hobby...
I'm wondering about the extra black part above the toes- for workboots, you can get this brush on stuff that essantially adds extra reinforcing to your boot toe. Perhaps this stuff could work for this as well? Mask the boot, the brush it on verrrry lightly...
Molding the sole and casting it, then having it what, grafted onto another boot with shoe goo or having a shoe maker do it?
For me, I wear size 13 boats, by the time I would buy the material, cast it, so on and so on, I don't know how much of a cost savings there would be. (for me) Aside from the obvious bonus of having the ability to wear the $185 boot all the time!
Hmmm...that would be cool... Anybody want to cast up soles for me? For $$?
:love
yeah, I know that brush on stuff you are reffering too, I was thinking the same thing. they sell it at homedepot for grip surfaces and such. Should work well. My thoughts were to just add ontop of the existing boot. Adding the two vertical red section properly, and you would also add the new eyelets at the same time, shouldn't be too hard. Though I probably won't actually sew mine, just make it look sewn.
Are you referring to gluing everything on your boots?
I'd just use an Alpinestars touring boots and use red Duplicolor Vinyl paint on it if I'll ever take this project on.
So shoe goo is the way to go? Or Barge's cement? Is that stuff strong enough to make wearable boots?
