One question about the end of the movie: How is Peter Parker and Ned still in high school after the 5 year jump ahead? Ned hugged him like he had gone the 5 years without seeing Peter. If Ned had vanished by the snap, it would be like no time had gone by for the both of them. Thought that was a major goof.. Maybe someone has a good explanation for that.

After the 1st snap people seemed quite sick and afraid as they faded out. Then they came back, 5 years later. I would take it that they were very aware of whats going on and just very happy to see each other. I know I would be if it happened to me.

.

But, the elephant in the room is that past Thanos and company left the past and were disintegrated by Tony... which negated the first snap and a whole bunch of other stuff. At that point, there really is no reason for Cap to return the stones since the timelines been radically changed.

YES!! EXACTLY!!! I thought thanos wasn’t going to be forced to go back in time. When I saw him dusted the first thing they came to mind was... “whatto....” big plot hole

Three dudes showed up trashed and sat right in front of me. The kept yelling/narrating the entire movie. Jumping up and pointing at the screen “f- you!”, vaping and Snapchating the movie.

I said something three different times but they just flicked me off and kept up with it. The talked all through Tony’s funeral to an otherwise quiet theatre.

Needless to say that is my very last opening night screening for a movie and I’ll see it again so I can actually enjoy it a bit more.

I would have grabbed a manager.. I did that once... though the manager didn’t do sh1t. When the manager left I took matters into my own hands.

Then the audience clapped for me, as the 2 jerks left

... that was “need for speed” I didn’t want to see the movie anyway, my girlfriend and her family dragged me to it. but the 2 jerks were purposely making obnoxious noises, and I have a problem with sounds.. clicking, beeping, phone rings... can’t stand many sounds in real life.. I’m not gonna sit in a theater and PAY to be annoyed..

it just seemed him being back in high school with Ned was like the 5 year jump never happened.
They are still the same age despite the 5 years, so finishing school is no big deal.
I'm more surprised that school appeared to be the first time they saw each other. I would think it should take more time to get people reintegrated and what not, so they would likely have had time to hang out before then.

I am a bit confused on the logistics of the MCU going forward. Is it 2023 now in Spider-Man FFH?
Does the new season of SHIELD take place during the decimation?

I think this will be answered in “far from home”

Peter reuniting with Ned, is that 2023? Or 2018? I’m wondering if End game peter is sent back in time to 2018 (before the snap)?then again if the snap always happens? I guess that wouldn’t work either..

The whole planet now lives with the 5 year snap depression?

To me that scene with Ned and peter didn’t look right.. the world looked like everything was nasty and destroyed, but when peter goes to school everything looks clean and happy again.. but clearly Ned and peter haven’t seen each other in a long time because they are very emotional when reunited

Marvel probably has a explanation for this, and it’s probably very simple, but this is by far my BIGGEST question as to how they can tie this together

Face it, Peters lost 5 years of his lift, the world is 5 years ahead of him.. what are they going to do to put this back in track?

Very curious

I'm more than happy with them not going any further with the Avengers films to be honest. It really felt like a great end for me for most of if not all the character arcs. I mean they have threads they could lead from, but I can't say I'm bothered (though others probably feel differently!) It reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises - I felt like yeah, that's done, the story has an ending. I don't need anymore.

(Saying that though, Dude Thor with the Guardians of The Galaxy will absolutely have my cash)

The MCU has felt like lightning in a bottle. I have no idea how they'd pull this off again - ten years of story telling and getting us to emotionally invest in a new set of characters again. An amazing feat.

Well, they now have the Fantastic Four and the Xmen to work with. The only characters who don't seem to be able to come back would be Black Widow and Tony. I don't list cap because, if they can do time travel, he can always be retrieved if necessary - thought he's likely done. Not all, but most of those whom we've invested are still around as well.

I'll say this about Tony as well. Never say never. Contract may be done, but it doesn't mean there can't be another. It is a comic book movie - how many times do people die and return in comics? And, it struck me as odd that there was no body at the funeral, just a wreath.

I really thought about it but I was afraid that I would miss something. I think I'm inspired to work on a possible solution for talkers/texters/etc at movies

If they are sitting in front of you, a little trick I learned, throw skittles or m&m ate them (of course not the ones you bought at the theater, too expensive!! The cheap ones you smuggled in!)

And if they are sitting directly in front throw then high up into the air, be creative with you angle of attack ;) lol

I suppose the world being 5 years ahead of the returners can be played however they need it to.
If you think about half the world's population vanishing in a moment, thats a lot of the leaders, scientists, innovaters etc gone. Those that are left will struggle with less resources, less people to mine and process natural resources, less people to move and ship everything.
The knock on effect to society would be huge. I can imagine the world wouldn't move on much at all. We'd only be getting a new iphone every 2-3 years!!

Conversely, times of hardship and war have led to great innovation and advancement out of necessity.

It is an open book and a great question to think over.

Very true

Personally, I don't think that this was as concise a film as infinity war. That was a very solid film.

This one meandered in tone a lot more.

However, because of it's length and scope, the inconsistent tone is actually a good thing.

Everything here was earned and it was a perfect payoff

However, this does bring me to one fiddly bit of time travel nonsense.

I loved that Captain America stayed in the past.

But it was a different timeline. He never existed as an old man in this prime universe.

He should have gone back in time, found Peggy, had the dance and fought Hydra like he was supposed to.

And they could have gotten that across without him as an old man.

How do you know he never existed as an old man in the prime universe? Just because he was never shown that way doesn't mean he couldn't have existed.

Peggy was married but never revealed who she married and I don't believe she said if he was still around or not.

It wasn’t just about the dance but about him getting to live a married life in peace with Peggy. Apparently he hopped in to the timeline after the war where Cap was frozen in ice. I don’t think he’d want to fight the Axis again. After he lived a whole life with Peggy he returned to his own timeline.

Makes sense to me. His solitude as a man out of time is best appreciated in Winter Soldier.

Because I can't imagine Steve going back to his correct time and simply being a house husband. There is no way he would go back and just let Hydra exist, or let bucky stay captured.

The only way he could have been there is if Peggy kept him locked up and never introduced him to anyone. (And didn't let the army know about him)

That's why going back changed to a different t timeline, the way Tilda swinton told them about

Probably isn't one, other than in those 5 years of being dead, Peter didn't age or go to school, so returns where he left off. Same for his mate.

I'm gonna guess (because need didn't age) that they we're both vanished. So the emotions weren't that ned hadn't seen him in five years (like Cassie) but that they went through something incredibly scary

I felt it was more about the death of Peter’s mentor, Stark, as well as the culture shock of suddenly experiencing a changed world.
