I am in awe of the level of talent I see on this board! I can barely make it through a model kit these days and you are taking foam and making an awesome Iron Man out of it!!??

awesome! great work

Thomas
Thanks! To be fair, I am terrible at model kits! :lol That is why I build bigger things!

Thanks much! Yeah, the good news is that the opening tonight was a series of kids and adults that dropped their mouths open when they saw Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow "in the flesh".

Soooo.....I guess I should put up some shots of the finished costume! Here is a group shot of all of us and some 501st friends!

A quick turnaround of the suit as it stands now. I need to add some paint apps, do a bunch of detailing and weather the suit. So this is "factory new"!

More pictures as they are available!

Amazing build :thumbsup congratulations on your success !!
I know I say it all the time, but I love the fact that in certain countries like the US,where heroism is much more alive and integrated in daily life, you can dress up - alone or with friends - and go to the movie theatre to see your favorite premiere. On top of that, people come up to you for a chat or a photo.Priceless experience

Thanks a bunch! It is really great when you can have a good relationship with your local theater. They were so happy to have us out and it just made the night for a lot of people that could not believe that the "real" Iron Man, Black Widow and Captain America were at their local theater. It is just a whirlwind couple of days with 4 hours in the suit on Friday at the opening and then another 4 hours in the suit for the Free Comic Book Day. I am beat!!!

As I gather more and better photos of the events I will toss them up. I think the Mark 43 will rest for a while and then I will get back to updating and improving the existing suit. I can already see places I want to streamline and modify. Thanks again for all the kind words everyone!

Re: Avengers: AOU - Iron Man Mark 43 - Speed build for Opening/Free Comic Book Day

More pictures!! After combing facebook and friends cameras I picked up more shots from opening night and free comic book day.

My little buddy helped us out for a while in his new Captain America costume!IMG_1565.JPG

After looking REALLY hard we found Ant-Man! IMG_1572.JPG

At FCBD we picked up a few more Marvel characters.031.JPG

I don't think Iron Man got the joke. Maybe he is laughing on the inside? 038.JPG

At one point the women outnumbered the men at FCBD! Girl Power!!! 033.JPG

The last shot is a late day, rare break for fresh air!!!! 036.JPG

That is all for now!! Time to mow the yard and take a nap!!!

Could you please post the link to where you ordered the helmet, attempting a speed build myself and would like a shortcut on the helmet. Thanks.

The helmet is from therocketeer here on the RPF. Just send him a PM and see if he has an opening in his build schedule. It is a top notch helmet!!!

Thanks mate! When you start your build, put up a thread and you can get a ton of tips from the many great minds on the forum!

They are too small and inflexible out of the box. That is why I an cutting them into smaller pieces and attaching them to these gloves I found the other day. They even have built in ribbing!

The cut pieces give good mobility and the time I saved is wonderful! They also have a light and sound feature that make repulsor sounds based on the position of your hand.
Hand Down - Light is off and "power down" sounds
Hand Up - Light is on and "power up" sounds
Shake or Thrust Hand - Light blinks and "firing" sounds

I am going to leave the light in and build up a bit of foam detail around it and then relocate the battery, speaker and switch to under the handplate.

More to come! I can feel the deadline breathing down the back of my neck!

Hey do you think you could post pictures of these finished? I have these too and this looks like a great solution to making them more "adult friendly".

Here you go! I think the only change I would make is to use a red zentai glove underneath since the fingers can be a bit tight on bigger fingers. The pressure has chipped off a bit more of the paint than I would like. This is after wearing them for about 10 hours so far.

Good luck with your build!

You've inspired me with the gloves. What glue did you use to glue both sets of gloves together? I tried super glue on some fabric gloves but they started to smoke! Yikes!

I used the Loctite Gel Control super glue. The only thing I ended up gluing was the fingertips. The rest of the fingers and the palms are free floating and hold in place with just friction since they are rubber!

Great work, I am just starting my iron man journey, good research and I like the poppers to connect the parts together.

thanks

Great idea. I never would've thought of just gluing the fingertips. So simple in its ingenuity.
