Avatar Weapons & Guns

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

Do they have any pics of the arrows in the book that you could scan and post?

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

Very neat. Do you have any cutaway or how they would work/function internal drawings? You said that you "worked out all the little details". Anyways good job on your weapon visions and visuals. Really awesome job!! I hope "They" let you release the stuff you were talking about on the board. Do you know how the Wasp pistol was supposed to function with the selector? How does it cycle the cylinder on Auto?

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

welcome welcome Aaron , loving the descriptions of how you designed the weapons and with full functionality in mind , i am nerdishly inclined that way too :lol, more techno gun porn please and looking forward to seeing your artwork. I was wondering where your inspiration came from for these , are you a fan of Masimune Shirow by any chance :cool

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

Ah thanks for the links I can see the inspiration now , they still look a lot like Shirows as well ,maybe they are fans too :lol

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

OK now I know who he is, I saw "Ghost in the Shell". I have a few of the DVDs. I also got a model of the helicopter gunship from that series.

The HK LMG11 was started in/around 1970 so was before MS guy (he would of been 9). So he was probably influenced by HK's designs. Although FN's P90 might have been influenced by some of his stuff. The curved hand grips on the P90 were revolutionary and futuristic for the time but I'd have to compare dates of MS's drawings (I did see that he does have some in the drawings in an above post with that type of hand grips) and dates he drew them with the date of the P90's creation (FN was influenced in the P90's creation from the American Hill SMG (the action thought up in 1948) and M. Johnson's 5.7mm Spitfire ammo from the late 50s/60's).

As for the MRC, it was designed around 2005 for the US Army's Future Warrior program and may have been rolled into the Lightweight Small Arms Tech program. I have no idea on the influence of it's conceptual design (although there was a bonus DVD that came with one of the Ghost Recon games that did talk about it), other than the Army was looking into something new and revolutionary.

Hello all, been lurking here for a while but I finally joined up to share work on my latest build: the monster (49"!) AVR-30 door-gun.
(I've also got a discussion of this going in a thread on the PVC-BBC)
a rough composite based on the reference pictures I could find:

Re: Avatar GS-221 Gun (updated)

Got all the holes filed out on the barrel shroud, now it's just going to be a lot of fine-tuning to get it to look less handmade...which it is.

re: Avatar Weapons & Guns

Were you going to scratch build the entire thing, or use some other base item?

Good work thus far!

Thanks! Yep, it's going to be all from scratch. I just got the barrel and flash-hider built, and got the plans for the stock-layers printed off yesterday.

Why don't you start a build thread so this one isn't derailed.

Looks like a great project!
