Re: Avatar AMP Suit Marquette

It's spelled 'maquette'. Richard Taylor is the only person who pronounces it "marquette". Just fyi. :)

And nope. I don't love the cabin - the rest of the design looks fine but the cabin sort of puts me off. Not to mention the price. OUCH. Put my money towards a D9 exo-suit instead.

Even so I will be very interested to see pics - please go crazy!

Blame RPF's spell checker.....it kept telling me "Maquette" was wrong. I've since corrected it so it doesn't drive the anal retentive types nuts.

The main cab was not only wrapped tight in the box but wired down which I had to undo on the underside.

Now the assembly starting with the base, legs and main cab. It might be noted that Sideshow did not bother to enclose any paperwork whatsoever. Although this isn't hard to assemble, I did have to go back to some reference pics online to make sure things where going together right. The legs have a square brass post that inserts into the base and the main cab has a post that inserts into the leg assembly.

Installing the hands is easy....they only go in one way and are held in by magnets. Just make sure you get the left and right hands correct. Colonel Quaritch inserts with one brass peg into the base.

Installing the gun takes some time. The sling is too long and needs to be adjusted to hang high enough so the hand looks like its holding it. I also found the nylon sling end tends to fray when your trying to make adjustments but a quick swipe of a lighter along the sling end fixes it.

UPDATE : Whatever you do...DO NOT cut the nylon sling short. I overlooked a brass pin on the side of the gun that installs in the leg and supports the gun. It also sits the gun lower where you need a longer sling so I simply adjusted it longer to hang lower....I posted an updated install on the 2nd page of this thread.

Last is installing the bandolier. Theres a slot on the gun you just press it in. Then string it thru the top guides and then into the slot on the back. The slots are shaped in a way to help guide you in pointing the bullets in the right direction.

Whoa, nice piece, great out the box pics too, love this design, more so than the D9 mech TBH, sorry Martyn lol.
