Re: AT-AT diorama WIP
Let the madness continue: Nearly done with all of the painting, just got the F-Toys snowspeeders to repaint (and hang with the most invisible magician's thread available on the market, oh and I'll put figures in them too) perhaps modify a couple of Taun-Tauns from the ERTL 'Battle of Hoth action scene kit' and then I'll start to put this all together.
I'm getting a custom made acrylic case this weekend so will be able to plan out the composition and really get this thing somewhere near completed over the next few weeks. I need it to be ready for the start of May as I'll be exhibiting it at the Star Wars Fan Fun Day in Burnley, UK. If anyone else would like to exhibit their props or models PM me for more details. - This year there will be a lot more exhibition space. Trust me, this will be a great event!
^ Turrets now painted, with a trooper poking his head out of one of them. I'm going to dare myself to smash one of these with a chisel to create that 'just been shot' look.
^ Close-up of troop
This gun emplacement is a heavily modified piece from the ERTL Battle of Hoth action scene. The scale of the whole kit is allegedly is supposed to be about 1/144 - 1/160 but I think it holds up fine to 1/100
^ Again, troops from the Battle of Hoth action scene. They are just about the right size... perhaps a tiny bit small, but it should add to the scale of the scene. I've painted about 20 of these figures, holding my breath with each brushstroke to keep my hand steady! These are stupidly small, but I managed to paint in the green goggles on most of them
^ Really pushing my Macro to its limit. The sticks are regular cocktail sticks/toothpicks to give an indication of how tricky these buggers are to paint. My eyes may never fully recover!
More updates soon! Feeling excited about finishing it now.
