Art Asylum / Diamond Select TOS Phaser build with metal parts.

I do plan on an entire overhaul following some of your ( all above) leads. I wanted to be sure the molding was the same and accurate...enough to start.

Have some ideas to try.

Color matters not, only life matters... sorry wrong movie. : )

Is there a Mrs Hubbell ? ; )

How do you guys attach the handle with the male Hubbell plug to the phaser body? Do you get a female plug and install it in the body or just cut slots?

Kpax there are both female and male plugs (right side of photo) that are used on the hero phaser, not sure how to do that on an AA phaser. The male plug goes inside the handle.

I would love to upgrade me one them fancy phaser ones one day - time and money ya know - I have one of mine gutted and ready for parts , but that's as far as I got

Hello! I found this sight while looking at vids and googling ways to upgrade phasers. I must say I hit the jackpot here. I've been amazed at what some of the folks here have accomplished with their upgrades. I've always wanted a quality prop replica of the old series phaser but could not afford one. So I've decided to give it a try myself. After reading this thread through some 3 times, I've got some ideas of how people are tackling this but much I still don't know.

Over the next few week I will be picking up a 3-5 AA phasers with the intent of beginning my first upgrade. I'll also be ordering parts from the shops that have been listed on the thread. I've read about the suggested paints for the various builds and will explore that as well. I've got the equipment to do some fine sanding and grinding (as needed), drills, but need to get some finer cutting tools.

Question: What particular tools are must haves? I'm wondering if I need something specific for cutting/trimming. Most of the stuff I have is for woodwork. What do you recommend for painting? Do you guys airbrush, brush, or spray?

Thanks for your help!

spacerone: You turn out some excellent prop upgrades! As fine or finer than any I've seen. Kudos!

Thanks Delta Vega! I use a sharp x-acto knife for cutting and trimming the plastic on the AA phaser and a hacksaw blade for cutting. When it comes time for painting I use spray paint from a can. I have had good results with the spray paints.

Thanks for the quick answer. Sounds like I'm good to go with the basic tools. I've ordered 4 AA phasers to start with. I knew if I just started with one I'd be sure to butcher it....and the second. :lol This way I have spares or future builds either way. Now to start my parts list and make some decisions on paint.

Is there a specific adhesive/glue and filler that people use out there?
