Anyone know anything about the John Wick Gold Coins?

Any update ?

nope.

last time i saw him he said he's gonna plate it in 18k and another in 24k to see if there's a difference then he disappeared.

summer season is usually a hard time to get props done as every goes to trade shows and cons.

Just found this thread. I haven't been paying much attention lately. You guys did an amazing job and I'm looking forward to hopefully owning a few of these! :)

Hopefully ultraman can get these made for an affordable price. His look great so far. If that's the best they can get that would be just fine with me.

we could talk to Wolfie about making the coin, did a good job with the Shield / Hydra coin he made so has experience making coins.

Not to step on anyone's toes, but this might be a good idea. Wolfie did a great job with the Potter coins.

don't worry i'll be back on this come september 1st!

some of you know, but some of you don't so i'll fill you in.......i'm a free-lance commercial artist...90% of my money for the year comes from the 3 months of summer because this is when i do murals, signs and other things.
mainly because i live in a cold climate place so paint don't seem to work too good during the rest of the year when its cold outside.
so basically i work 3 months of the year on a "real job" and the rest of the 9 months i do what i want.
this is why no one see's me doing props from june - august .

be patient....papa's gotta make money to pay the bills!!!
LOL :cool

i'll be back at it in 20 days summers almost over!

Very cool work on the coin.
ultraman: Any words on a "cheaper" version of the coin?

Now I know this would violate the authenticity of the prop - but I'm looking for a down-scaled version of the coin - something like a diameter of 22-23mm - I'm into tabletop gaming and would like to use them as bases for my near-future/modern warfare Merc force - top side would be textured but the underside would be visible, when the model is on its side. I thought it would be a cool detail - also I'd like to use them as objective markers.

Any help is appreciated.

I've recently found this forum - and WOW! you guys are solid, when it comes to props - lots of great inspiration!

Treadheadz : It's a 3D model, so it's scalable. But at 23 mm, the text would become unreadable and certain small detail like the rays around the lion would also disappear.

Did you want them in metal or plastic ? I can make the plastic available at Shapeways in the smaller size if that's what you want.

Thanks for the reply.

I prefer plastic - But to be honest, I'd rather have the text and loose the edge detail - So I guess I could sand or cut them - Unless you kept the proportions of the detail, but cropped the size - Does that even make sense?! ...But only if you really don't have other stuff to do - I reckon I would order a few test pieces before going all in.

Our dollar is 38 mm. You're talking about going down to 23 mm. That's almost cutting the size in HALF.

I'm working on "The Saint" knife currently. But I can find some time maybe Sunday or Monday to try resizing it. The only thing that can even come close to doing a good job is Frosted Ultra detail. Since it's semi-transparent, you would need to paint them.

Do you still want BOTH sides printed ? (wasn't clear what you meant by "textured" on one side.) But if I can just print one side, that would save time trying to resize it. If that is the case, did you want the lion side or the lady side? (or please clarify if I got it wrong. :))

Yeah, when you put it like that - it seem pretty brutal - maybe I'm pushing the envelope too much on this.

I'd be interested in seeing what i "direct" re-sizing would do to the detail - But seriously, ONLY if you have spare time ;)

IF I was to get this done, I'd like both sides - just to add variation.

With "textured" I meant that one side would have a model glued to it and texturepaint/basing material then added, to simulate ground texture.

I REALLY appreciate your help in this - even if it might turn out impossible - its a good learning experience :D

Okay, on page 9 of this thread, there is a picture called "My gold plated brass coin". It has bolder text that would survive Resizing better. I would still offer it in Frosted Ultra detail, but with the bolder text, I could resize it better.

3d Wick Coin 26.jpg

Scaling went well, and didn't take long after all.
You can purchase here :

They'll notify me when you order if they don't think it'll come out right.
