Anton Yelchin dead

I'm saying the idea isn't new. Just because it was 'only' a fan film... well...
Then again, nu-trek is already re-hashing old Trek plotlines, why not rip off the fanfilms, too?
 
In this case, I really hope that they don't recast the character. They should replace him with a new character, which would be realistic in that setting and a good opportunity to be creative in the way that Trek can be.

Well like I said they could kill him off and make it that the timeline change Spock and company started is REALLY changing things,then do something really nuts....like make Kirk head of Starfleet in a few decades.
 
I don't think they have to do anything with the "timeline" business.. just have the character die, or otherwise leave the ship, between this film and the next one. And bring in a new character after that, make some remark on screen about being Chekov's replacement or whatever, and that's that.
