ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

It is accurate and all the Anovos helmets have been that way from the very beginning.
It has been discussed on a lot of other places and is just permanent marker over the chrome. Acetone and thinner should take it off no problem then you can just use black paint to be more accurate.

Your's is pretty bad as far as being sloppy but the permanent marker is nothing new. Mine that just arrived actually has it applied pretty good so I am not touching it.

Right, the paint / marker is in the right spots, but mine is just ugly and inaccurate in its application. Mind sharing a photo of yours? No worries if not – just curious what someone else's looks like when it's correct out-of-the-box. Out of all the research I've done seeing other ANOVOS Kylo helmets, mine seems to be one of the worst looking I've found. Lucky me!

All new or the helmets that Anovos now deliver have these squiggly lines. These look like a smiley "-_-". They probably have a clown at work now. They all look like this, I've seen a lot of pictures that look exactly like this.

Are the Kylo helmets now also made in the USA or still made in China? What's in your new helmets? They said they wanted to move manufacturing to the States. The Mandalorian helmet is already "Made in USA".

I got an email response from Stanly just now about my ticket back in October asking where the jackets were. Hopefully it won’t take so long to get a response about switching sizes.

Update: Well, two types of powerful paint thinners didn’t work on the squiggly lines. Didn’t even touch them. Not even a little. Wondering if there’s some kind of clear coat or sealant over it.

Any ideas about what to try next?

You have to be Super careful, but if you get some oven cleaner and spray just a little bit on a rag and very lightly rub just the black, it will come off. You just have to use tiny amounts or it will eat the chrome plate too.

The Anovos helmets are not as accurate as some believe. I'm giving just the Vader and Stormtrooper examples...
I think mikidymac was referring to the Anovos Kylo helmets specifically. They have been released for several years.

Correct, I was only talking about the Kylo.

Try a very small spot and do it quickly but auto parts Brake Parts cleaner takes off permanent marker instantly. I use it all the time on things I have marked with permanent marker. It also gets scuffs and paint transfer off or cars. Spray a little on a rag then quickly wipe the area, do not hold it there. I would try a little corner spot first to make sure it doesn't hurt the crome. It works better than acetone, or thinners on marker.

Are we sure it's marker and not paint? Looks like paint to me because I can see brush marks, but I could be wrong.

Is there a specific brand you'd recommend? I'm scared this will eat away everything

I've used a bunch. Easy off works. Dont spray it directly on it and it should teat everything but the idea is to just hit the black bits. I've also heard people using nail polish remover but I think that's just acetone.
Just my suggestion if the other stuff hasn't worked but it is risky. You might even try scraping it off with a razor blade

Thanks. I might give acetone a try first, then if all else fails, I'll bring in the big guns.

Before you do acetone, try isopropyl alcohol. (IPA) It will take off a great many paints WITHOUT damaging plating or plastics. If the paint resists the alcohol, only then go with acetone. (Oh, and oven cleaner works because it actually corrodes the material, whereas acetone dissolves it.) I would also guess that the paint might chip or scrape off easily if you use a piece of plastic- a cut up credit card or guitar pick. (Guitar picks are great for this, because they're usually "sharp" around the edges, but still soft enough to not cause scrapes if you're careful. They'll take off paint, but have a harder time damaging plating.)

Thanks for the tips. Isopropyl alcohol didn’t touch it. Oven cleaner was kind of working, but it started to take off the chrome on a test piece. So I could try acetone next.

I’m shocked that these little crappy squiggly lines are so resilient. I might have to chrome over the marks after all.
