ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

If you come on this board or in the cosplay community for some time, then I don't know how you can keep diving head first into these purchases. But there are people out there who are Star Wars fans or maybe even family/friends of fans that are not aware of the history of Anovos. They will come across the website, a facebook ad, or even walk by one of their tables at a con with no ideas what they might be getting themselves into. Those are the people for which I feel bad.

Well, I do what I can to spread the word. Three years ago (when I ordered), a lot of my friends and my sister ordered items and all of them have since cancelled fortunately. In the interim, anyone who has come to me for advice has also gotten the full story and decided against an order/ purchase from Anovos.

It is amusing that much much earlier in this thread I mentioned the dozen or so potential customers I dissuaded from ordering at Anovos and folks here were yelling at me about how much Anovos needs the orders and customers for support!!!

Haven't seen a post like that in a while... ahem.

As they say caveat emptor...

Its a terrible situation for some, but in this day a quick internet search can find a review of most any internet store front.

I really dont know what happened with shipping in stock stuff, other than a hard push to get the backlog clearing this month and next. So odd...

Its a real shame.. such potential, and a miss on execution ... i really hope they turn their business around fast... otherwise... kurplunk...

Don’t they do merchandising panels at the comic cons and celebrations? They are usually a panel that do a lot of the smaller companies together like Anovos, sideshow, gentle giant, etc... Anyone ever call them out in a place like that? Maybe some Disney reps around. Nothing mean or irate, just hit them with the facts.

Doesn't need to be mean - one can be very calm and thoroughly humiliating at the same time, no?

That imo would be useless, even if Dana and Joe would be there, all you would get would be a line of BS.

What you could accomplish is warning potential new lemmings from getting fleeced

Weird. I see that Rey costumes are "shipping" but Kylo has NOTHING on it on the site.

Seriously, it says "Pre-Orders Now Shipping" Rey but nothing for Kylo costumes.

WTF?!

I've seen Anovos at, I think, 3 different cons (NY ComicCon, Star Trek NY, and Star Wars Celebration in Orlando) and I don't think they were a part of any panel at any of those cons.

Even with their booths at Cons you would never get any useful answer from them, just more lies...

They evidentially have no shame as they keep showing up at Cons.

How are they honestly still in business, at this point they've become a giant ponzi scam.
Its a shame, because the armor I have seen looked good, but now they've jacked the pricing up for a products that's not even close to shipping for what to pay for "molds".

You should check out RS props then. Everything has screen linage and they actually deliver unlike Anovos.
Not everything. The Imperial Gunner helmet doesn't have screen lineage. Others like the X-wing pilot helmets have lineage to a TIE pilot helmet. The Lineage tab explains the lineage of each product.

Another issue is RS does not offer many of the products Anovos does. There really isn't much direct overlap between RS and Anovos products.

I'm not being critical of RS. They make fine products. I have several.

No idea why the hostility from you, but if you want to spend your money on vaperware by all means.

What part of what I said is hostile? Is there anything inaccurate in my post?

I have several RS props items. I like what they make. Sometimes the screen lineage comments made on boards are misleading. I would think most people assume an X-wing pilot helmet with screen lineage means it was based on a screen used X-wing pilot helmet. It is based on a TIE pilot helmet. The RS website states this. I know the left and right halves were originally made based on the same mold, but RS does not have a complete screen used X-wing helmet. They need to use other references to build the rest of the helmet. As far as I can tell, they did a fine job of it. I have a Biggs helmet from them. I hope to get more.

If you want items for any film other than the OT, RS props won't help. They simply don't make those items. Anovos sells some OT items that RS doesn't make as well. RS has several X-wing helmet designs that Anovos does not offer and also vice versa. I believe the only X-wing helmet in common so far is Luke's. The only time comparing the two companies makes sense is if they both offer the product you want or you don't care which specific product you get.

Today, my preorder for that Jyn Erso costume ensemble for my wife turns EXACTLY 2 years, 1 month old. In that time, I got engaged, got married, and am celebrating a 1st anniversary. And still no costume? I mean, consider that there's been no less than 4 delays since the initial WINTER 2017 delivery date projection... Think about it. That's almost a year and a quarter since the projected delivery date.

I think they even gave up on updating their Jyn Erso page on their website, because as of writing, it is still showing a March 19, 2019 delivery date. At this rate, I can only assume they're hoping people will simply either cancel or forget their orders, so that this project quietly goes away...

By the way, taking a look at several other costume ensembles released around the same time, this made me laugh.

We recently conducted a review with the manufacturer and determined that they had experienced a bit of difficulty achieving the correct color match in the creation of the fabric that the Tunic, Hat and Pants are being constructed of. Thankfully, this issue has recently been overcome and the fabric is currently being created. Additionally, the production of the Rank Badge is queued after the completion of the Hat insignia, which is currently awaiting the completion of the Hat. This has unfortunately put the production of each item of this costume behind schedule. Because of the volume of work remaining, we are adjusting the shipping of these items to Fall 2018.

So you're saying that THE FABRIC is the reason this costume ensemble got delayed? Okay, fair enough. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there.

Then tell me this: Why is it that every other costume ensemble from that date is also backlogged since Feb '17? Do they all use the same color-matched fabrics? Or is this magical fabric holding up production of all the other costumes as well?
