Anime Weapons

I know there are some fans here :lol

I was thinking that this was a pretty good time to be a fan:

A modest amount of replicas are currently available, and there are more to come.

The availability of reference material is good.

Materials and craftsmanship are improving.

Plenty of good shows & movies out there.

Anyway, I'll be sharing my obsessions in this thread, and I invite you to share yours.

Pictures and links soon to follow :)

Absolute fan of anime (and videogames, even if not requested in this thread:D) weapons!
There are some great weapons out there, especially guns, that I would love to have or make...:)

Here's a teaser:

http://www.geocities.com/voktobreh/anigunshome.html

That's the crude site I made many years ago, to host some of the reference material I collected.

On the table of contents you can see Akira and Ghost in the Shell - both still near and dear to my heart.

Regarding Ghost in the Shell, the Japanese company Marushin will release (sometime this year) an airsoft replica of Togusa's Mateba revolver (from the first film):

MSRP: 24,800 Yen ~ $ 230

Materials: Plastic & Zinc

My current obsession is the "9 Weapon" from the first Ghost in the Shell film.

It seems like such a realistic design - it must be real!

http://www.geocities.com/voktobreh/9weap.html

Actually, the 9 Weapon appears to have been heavily inspired by two real world assault rifles: the FN P90 and the L-85:

As an aside, the scans on my old website are from the book "The Analysis of Ghost in the Shell," a Japanese tie-in that contains a large amount of information about the making of the film, all tragically in Japanese. It was one of my first anime-related purchases, and I think it cost me $40 about ten years ago. On the plus side, the book does contain a lot of storyboards and many model sheets for the weapons & vehicles. Reasonably handy for me.

Let's talk about Poseidon.

http://www.poseidon.co.jp/1F/1f.html

Dai Nippon Giken Poseidon (to be formal) is a garage kit company that specializes in anime firearms.

They were the ones who made this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imZsGuyCBvc

They've made easily two dozen resin kits of various anime & videogame weapons. A few of these are also able to be built around functioning airsoft guns, yielding functional replicas.

Unfortunately, their kits are hard to get outside of Japan.

If you search diligently, you may find a person or store that offers them and will ship to the US.

Trivia: Poseidon made a replica 9 Weapon. It was their first kit designed to be built around a functional airsoft gun. Somehow, a cast of the pistol grip wound up being used as the grip of Tyr's gun on Andromeda.

YES!!! You have the "Zoaniod Buster" from "The Guyver"! I've wanted to take a crack at that for over a decade, just never had the time to research it!

More likely based off this weapon: http://www.biggerhammer.net/armpistol/variants.html The Bushmaster ARM Pistol.

I love Ghost in the Shell and anything Masamune Shirow - his speciality are girls with guns :cool. It seems there is some kind of a BB pistol for sale on Japanese sites.

As you know Mike, i love Anime weapons :)

I made the small orbogun from Witchhunter robin, and hope to finish the big one too this year.

I also made a 3d model of the 'X-gun' from Gantz, ready for machining

Both time and high costs that the machining would require has prevented me to have them done, maybe this year will be better :)

I do however scored and original 'Fewture" Iria pistol kit from the live action "Zeiram" movie, i also was allowed to make molds of the Spark gun from the same movie from the original RPF memeber Birdie has. and an original 'Appleseed GONG' kit recently (Cough-mademolds-cough) and i have molds for the CX exploder too.

This is from the anime, Tekkaman Blade II. I've been trying to get a functional replica for years. I always wanted the crystals to be made from natural amethyst, but would too costly if it was mass produced.

Some natural amethyst crystals are of very good quality and transparent. They are either tough to find or really expensive. Glass would work just fine too.

The character holding it is named Deadend and he owns the knife.

The front and back side are exactly the same just reversed. The purple crystals show up on both sides. I believe both crystals are a single piece each. Making a total of two crystals.

Anyone think someone will ever mass produce a quality replica that functions as a real knife?

NOTE: If this is too picture intensive, let me know how you would like it changed.

For those interested, the Marushin Mateba model 2007 is now on sale at some of the overseas airsoft stores. Just under $200, not including shipping, taxes or import duties:

http://www.marushin-kk.co.jp/mtb.htm

I got all stupid and excited and ordered one :D

Now, unfortunately, this guy uses 8mm BBs, which appear to be an odd size - the standard being 6mm. Also, you have to reload each individual 'bullet' after firing all six shots. On the other hand, the gun appears to disassemble in a reasonably user-friendly way, which makes modding and upgrades easier:

http://lagunshop.militaryblog.jp/e32583.html

Now's your chance to start planning for all your favorite variants: a snub or two, Wash's gun from Serenity, and the various models from GitS: Innocence, Solid State Society and Stand Alone Complex.

I'll let you guys know what it's like when it arrives (duh).

On an unrelated note, there is now a no-name Chinese toy bootleg of the Jing Gong airsoft bootleg of Poseidon's Ika-Zuchi / Thunder Maul / Whatever:

lol yup.. I was just checking out that webpage. Doesn't look like a store webpage though.

Well, assuming you're in the US, it might be.

Don't have to worry about customs seizure, import duties or international shipping...

From the photo they posted, it looks like the trademarks are intact, too.

The alternative would be to price it from some other vendors; domestic and international.

I checked Den Trinity & WGC.

http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=48154

I might have ordered from Airsoft Atlanta, but they were / are out of FN 5.7's, and the pics showed the trademarks milled off anyways.

I'm getting mine from overseas, and it's coming to about $217, including shipping. Assuming it makes it from there to here without any disasters.

Like I said, I'll let the board know how everything turns out..

Others:

Red Wolf has it for $181

Den Trinity has it for $199

WGC has it for $183

Airsoft GI doesn't have it yet, nor does Evike or Kapowwe.

Depending on who else has it listed & what kind of shipping you choose ... :confused

Not a gun, but has anyone seen a replica of Guts arm from Berserk , or the broken sword?

I am working on a Behelit from the anime series (haven't had a chance to read the manga yet), but I am thinking of tackling the sword and hilt.
