ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Hello

Just to be curious are those Hawker Tomtit Engine Cylinders that were part of the old Vernon RC kit (for the ANH Blaster grill) still available "somewhere" for purchase.

Thanks

They WILL be for purchase again as soon as the molds a re-made.
All info can be found within this thread :thumbsup

...until then Dave will be offering an exact duplicate of the cylinder in plastic and aluminum based on the newly found Tomtit model part. All details and dimensions are accurate.

Aye, but the advantage of the real radial engine cylinders is not only the better lineage, with 1,60 GBP per unit it also has a much lower price (even if he would double or triple the price later). AND each set has 2 of the pushrods ("antennas") enclosed, accompanied with one of the "catamaran" parts, which could be used on various other SW props.

The undeniable disadvantage is the indefinite period until they will be sold again. Daves are ready to go, i think.

That concerns off course for the plastic ones only, like the original ones. If someone wants them metal, he needs to go to Dave atm.

Hello kpax

Any way I could get a PM of "Dave's" RPF ID so I might PM him to see about pricing, payment and such.

Thanks

Good points. I do agree that having the vintage parts is really cool and "was" cheaper. Sure if/ when they are again available (Malcolm is MIA) they will still be cheaper. The only thing to note is that the injected parts from this old beat up mold are a bit choppy and rough. No big deal for having the real thing but are not quite as nice looking as the turned parts, and as said, if metal is wanted, Dave is the guy. Just keep in mind.

my MGC hammer mods.

Tried to alter the original MGC hammer and safety to look like the HERO c96.

stunning work, how long it took you to finish ?

Hi, Thanks. Not too long for those parts. Luckily the MGC parts are a bit over-sized so they just needed filing. The Safety has the steel plate so it fights back a little. They have to be adjusted a little but are close.

I am just doing the alterations on the MGC for now. Taking my time. I am waiting for my nephew to finish school and we will work on the assembly and finishing together.

Next up... Grips!

Keep a eye out for updates on the grips. When Dave makes a test pair I will post pics and then will be available on his site.

Very nice job, Clutch!

The nice blueing on the steel scope contrasts nicely w/ the matte finish of the pistol.
Those rings look really nice.

Now just add some weathering to the plastic grips & I think you'll be all finished.

"Here's a few pics of where mine sits at the moment:

I really want to replace the grips with wood ones - these are just modified MGC "Red Nine" grips. They will have to do for now. The barrel greeblies are just stuck on with double-sided tape for now. I chose to blacken my scope knobs with "Brass Black", but I might go back and paint them for accuracy...

I'm pretty happy so far!"

You did a real nice wood-look on the plastic grips, esp. after you filled in the Red 9.

Just a bit of weathering on the grips & IMO your blaster will be done.

It doesn't take much to make some of the old guns look more like the reel steel.
Looks like you've succeeded in the trigger department.

Here's my "factory fresh" DL-44. I say that, as I haven't started the weathering yet. So it might not stand out in the crowd right now, but after all the work I've put into this doozy, I'm very proud of it!
