Andy Kaufman Alive and Well and living in Poughkeepsie!

Before my time, I'm afraid. I was a kid when Kaufman was around, and I don't think my parents followed him at all, so I don't remember anything. I do know quite a bit about him now, of course.
Apparently his brother fully believed this, but now he think he's been the victim of a hoax. Probably something I would have figured out before going on the news with it, but I guess this could all just be part of keeping the Kaufman legend alive. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he were still around, and "retired" like his brother said.

I read the article and was thrilled to see his spirit and shenanigans alive! pretty fun stuff... I had always hoped his faked death plan was real and he would reappear somehow. would have been the hoax of a lifetime (if not completely and utterly controversial which is what Andy would have loved!)

Oh man do I remember Andy. I remember him best from "Taxi", however I witnessed first hand "most" of his greatest moments-
His complete freak out on David Letterman after Jerry "The King" Lawler slapped him (revealed decades later as staged, even though Letterman wasn't in on the joke).
His storming off the set of "Fridays TV Show."
His regular appearances on SNL- usually wrestling a woman picked from the audience, however I also remember him lipsincing the theme from "Mighty Mouse", and eating chocolate ice cream (that's all--- just eating a bowl of ice cream) for two minutes.
I thought he was hialrious! Defintely not everyone's kind of humour though.
While I "don't" believe he is alive, it wouldn't surprise me if he was and it was all an elaborate Kaufman joke. However I think if it was a joke, he has waited too long to jump out and go "Ha ha!"

To think he or for that matter anyone faking their death for this long and people actually believing it, blows my mind.
Smoking gun says Michael knows the "Actress" who claimed to be the daughter.

Again, his brother was in on the hoax.
You should check him out I think you will like some of the stuff he did.
He was "punking" people before that term was created.

I never found him funny - not one bit. I remember when he used to show up on SNL my friends and I would groan - "Not this guy!" I also remember Lorraine Michaels taking a vote for people who wanted to see more of Andy on SNL and those who wanted him gone -- it was a landslide "get rid of him" -- but they didn't. The only Andy skit I ever saw that I really liked was the one where he had a talk show and his desk was super tall- while guests had to strain to look up at him and shout to answer questions.
Well considering how unfunny the show has gotten thanks to Lorne Michaels driving away good cast members (remember how it was funny till mike meyers and that entire group quit in the 90s?) i'm not surprised. he wouldn't know funny if it kicked him and just milks the paychecks as a producer.
Jerry Lawler...but that was all part of an even bigger stunt that Lawler was in on.
It's gags like that, with their complexity and multiple layers to them, that make people willing to believe he'd be able to pull off the faking of his own death.

With Andy you either loved or hated him no two ways about it.
For me he was a comedic Genius who blured the lines between Comedy and Performance Art and took both to new levels that to this day have not been surpassed.

I remember him. His schtick was funny for a while but would get somewhat tiresome.
His material is more humorous as retrospective satire of 70's entertainment and culture which I appreciated more after his death.
During his life it was very redundant and sometimes annoying... but that was before I fully appreciated that I, as a viewer, was part of the joke.
He wasn't a genius but he did have a lot of balls.
I also saw his "meltdown" on Friday's live as well as his bizarre redemption.

I thought he was creepy and really quite despicable, but admit to a certain amount of fascination at his audacity at that time. He was a product of the times, no doubt. I also feel he might have had a touch of genius in him because he was so outside the box. But he didn't live long enough to prove he really was. I doubt very much that he is still alive.
