Anakin Starkiller RoTJ Hero Finishing Tutorial Thread

Are you referring to the print line down the middle of the rail? There is a line going down the middle of the rail, you use that line to line the edge of the tape up with when masking off

Can you please post photos of your canoe for an example

No not that line. I used that line to tape off the canoe. The lines I refer to are the vertical print lines. See photo. It wasn’t noticeable when it was raw resin but once I applied the grey it shows up more. Is this noticeable for you or others?

Oh I clearly see now, mine didn’t have that. I can’t see why you couldn’t give it a light sanding, making sure to leave that seam line though

Btw... you’re not in my basement right now are you? That mat looks strangely familiar....

Yeah, I’ll strip it and sand. Maybe I’ll use the putty if the lines are too deep. I don’t want to sand so much that dimensionally it changes the rails.

I have one of Dave’s finished ISYHCANLs. He resides in the UK, and the paint he used for the windvane is very close to ACE antique gold. If you check his build thread you can see the spray paint he used.
To be honest, I've seen easier methods of getting the same result/colour. The spray paint I used wasn't quite right, so I had to lightly dust over it with an airbrush to get to the colour I liked. Not ideal :D The 50/50 Humbrol mix might be a better option in hindsight. I'd be tempted to try that for my next build and thin it for airbrushing maybe?

Halliwax the work you put in to helping this community really is something else! Very much appreciated.

Thanks buddy! I try, wish I could get this info out sooner but my life is screwed right now

Yuma i have more detail and A LOT of info on.. so that may have to be a 2 part episode

If I get home early enough tonight I’ll throw up a quick video on how my fx yuma box works

I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for this Yuma info. You know I'm going to strip my Yuma and refinish it the way Dr. Halliwax says to!

Very close tom, it’s 6:33 right now just got home from work. Gonna go continue in the shed

Almost there buddy

Welp, that’s about all she wrote. Finally got the neck and rings properly painted without any chipping. Until such time as I add in a reveal circuit card, replace the tri-ring with the newer one being sourced by Anakin Starkiller, and/or turn it into an FX, this build is done. The black buttons are still temporarily held in place, until such time as I commit this build to being static or FX.

Looks great Greg!!

Yuma is very close to being done.. going for a teaser pic tomorrow...

I’ve learned that there are multiple blades made for it, the nipples change

I always thought they just cut it up while filming, this nipple change proves there were multiple blade made for different scenes/closeness

My free hand attempt I wasn’t happy with, now I’m trying to make a set of stencils

Not done with them yet

Hanging around TrooperTrent, he’ll teach ya a thing or two

I wasn’t happy with the free-hand finish work, so I made this ass back wards. Had to take a few more steps, but it was the only way I could do it with my limited computer skills

Should be able to finish this up this weekend! Yay!!
