An RPF Open Source 5 ft Millennium Falcon Build/Reference Thread. All Are Welcome

So today I had the pleasure of talking to Alan on the phone. Such a nice and generous man.

He doesn't do much online stuff, and stays out of the cloud so there's no real way for him to get me all of his photos. We can ask for specific areas, but I feel like that would become a nuisance quickly. He did say that if I came across any of his from other sources/people, he was fine with us using them.

So that being said, I'd be more than happy to host them on my drive. If you have some of them and would like to contribute, be it publicly or privately, please reach out via pm and we can hopefully find a was to make them available to everyone.

Thanks Alan!!!

Updated this one with a part correction.

So I did a parts layout to try and find the waistband height. Based on this section I got 2 5/8ths. Thoughts?

My thoughts on this are simply that the FalGal plate you make is either going to be a "fixed" height or else a "custom" height because no two Falcons are the same sidewall height. So I made mine "fat" with the hopes of squeezing everything into the sidewall without having to "trim" it like the ILM guys did, which to my aesthetic preference looks awful, but in all likelihood I'll just end up with whatever my sidewall height actually comes to, and then simply lay in my elements not in "plate" form but in originals like on the mandible sidewalls, so it looks inherently designed/built intentionally that way, rather than sloppy and rushed like a movie prop. But if you want exact replica accuracy, warts and all, then 2-5/8ths sounds like a good starting point from which to start cutting down.

Think this is the added Empire piece?

As far as I can tell this was simply 1x of about 13x incandescent light bezels added to the modified underside and lower jaw box for ESB.

Not sure about the two above however at least 3x of these are the Plastruct lamp shades per Rick Deckard's previous post. I haven't scored these yet, but LF-412 should be the correct size.

Hence why the Centurion hull is now removable with machine hex screws.

G'day John, is there any chance of adding dates/version numbers to your images at all? It would allow everyone to identify the latest image, especially if the image has been updated to correct an error. Just a thought. Cheers

Haha, that’s why I started to have the date of the maps in the spreadsheet as well (not finished with that….)
For me that works, but I also see the benefit of having a version or date based tag :)
