Surely a few dozen more than that will show up! Wah was sent buckets of them to repair (but never returned them), and every guest-star and their kid got to take one home from the set.

It also makes it easy to identify fakes, bases on the tells of the parts as compared to actual TOS props.

That's true as long as the actual prop is the jein phaser which is the base to compare with.

And, of course, we have HD screencaps from the show itself of both heroes and midgrades. "The auction phaser was repaired/repainted, which is why it looks different today" can only go SO far as an excuse.

This appears to be one of the Midgrade Phasers that were reported to have been Nichelle Nichols’.

Isn’t it funny that as soon as one of the actors dies, all of the original props show up in their private collections. You would think they would be passed down to their children and grandchildren instead.

Or failing that, you'd think they'd liquidate their assets while they're still alive, since cash is easier to divide among your heirs.

This phaser puzzles me. Never mind the excellent condition--the acrylic meter cover is yellowed with age, but not the emitter? Why? If it's real, how does that happen? If it's fake, how did the forger miss that obvious detail?
