Aliens M56 Smart Gun Build

Hey guys! This is my first post on the RPF, so if I'm breaking any rules feel free to inform me, I read the guidelines but still might goof.

Anyway, so I'm starting a functioning Airsoft M56 Smart Gun build. I already know the what I'm using for the base gun (Matrix MG42), but I'm having trouble finding parts. I know that the external parts on the foreend of the gun are Kawasaki AR125 footrest hangers, and the grips are the handlebars, but can't find them for sale. Unless I can, I'm likely going to have to use other grips and scratch build the other external bits.

I also can't find the exact model Steadicam harness they used in the movie... And I'm sure one of you guys know! Any help with that would be appreciated, and if that is a relatively unrealistic option to buy, then any suggestions on making a decent harness? It doesn't need to fully support the gun's weight, but it would be nice if it "took the load off" a bit.

All help is appreciated!

Yeah they are very hard parts to find. Your best option my be into looking at 3D printing them? There are a bunch of 3D printing vendors in the project run section

For the external parts I'm probably just gonna make them myself. I have quite the experienced help (my dad), so that much is covered... My real trip up is that harness. I need to research more into it but I can't find very much...

There was a seller on Etsy making the harnesses. They looked great but very expensive. Not sure if they're still selling on there or not but worth checking out

Well, having read through enough to find that the most expensive part of his build is not the demilled MG42 at $3700, bit rather the harness, I'm certainly not buying one! That is an amazingly detailed and impressive build on his part however. Looks like it's back to the drawing board! I'm thinking on going for overall general accuracy over pinpoint details. I sadly don't have the same budget as he did, and am hoping to have not spent more than $1k once this project is all said and done...

So, I'm gonna need some help on this build... I'm using Ultimate Badass' incredible build as my guide for this project, and as helpful as it is, finding the parts for sale is an entire beast in itself! I'm not going for the precision accuracy and such as he did, moreso going for as accurate as possible without breaking bank. Stuff like the Harness and arm, I'll likely have to build look-a-likes.

So basically, for other parts I'm asking for help. In particular I'm looking for the Kawasaki AR125 footpeg/footrest hangers, a Kawasaki KZ750 left side switch unit and handlebar, as well as the Husqvarna Magura 360 lever. I've found the KZ750 switch unit, but not with the grip. All help is appreciated!

There's a killer smart-gunner headset in the JY if you wanna save some time. 99% finished hero build and also a kit version for a bit cheaper. Aliens stuff doesn't seem as popular these days as it was 2008-2012. It's cool to see some of these sweet builds recently. Looking forward to yours!

i did a build awhile ago . i was fortunate to get a hold of a Matsuo corp m56 smart gun . i don't know if he still makes them . but was a great replica

@ veektohr
My dad made his own headset and casting years ago and sold it, so we're trying to track that down now haha

Was the matsuo resin? I'm going for functional and sturdy as I plan on using this for Airsoft, so resin might not hold... I just got the airsoft MG42 in the mail Thursday too, so that's covered!

Gotcha! Good luck then in your search. Matsuo's were cold cast resin with metal bibs and bobs I believe. He was pretty much a resin wizard.

Actually, with my dad's help, we found some extremely similar footrest hangers. Theyre almost identical except for one bit that needs ground off, I'm trying to keep it as much metal as possible for structural reasons (since I'll be playing Airsoft with it haha)

So I'm searching eBay and to my surprise I find a Steadicam harness and arm auction at $150!!! So I bid $200, with no changes until 5 minutes prior to auction end. Someone bids, I bid a little higher. My absolute max I have the ability to go right now is $250 aaaaaaaaand I get outbid by almost $50 more than I can go. Quite depressing... Oh well, might as well keep searching or end up making my own.

If any of you guys find one, message me please! I've found almost every other major part (or something close enough) except for this, and buying one at a decent price would save a LOT of time!
