Aliens floor tile ???

That is the same as the one I found in grey outside my work the other week. Of course it is not there now.

Hey guys,

A great thread, very helpful; I have recently had to model the floor tile (see below) for an CG environment I am working on and just discovered this thread :)

Would be great to get the dimensions posted (Noble :)), also I am after any shots of the underneath or side views of the said pallet (which appear to be rarer than rocking horse poodoo ;)).

Thanks all,

Wiz.

Do the original manufacturers still have the original mold? Or could they be commissioned to remold their surviving example?

Wiz, send me a PM with your email.

They don't have the original mold, that model is obsolete.

This item is not moldable via silicon. Only way is to build a new injection mold, which will cost a boat-load of cash.

Even in China, the tool would be crazy expensive....

Noble , I appreciate all the insight and information you were able to share, I will be starting this project hopefully very soon , and I will email you once the project starts taking off and making some headway.....

Thanks Noble for the information (you are the man!), and here now is the finished version (and its ready to go onto to be part of any number of environments I have planned so thanks again ;)).

That's great Wiz - love it.

If you watch the final battle in Outland, Sean Connery fights the assassin all over a MASSIVE array of these.

Thanks matey, and yeah Outland, I love that film, has amazing set design (and many people at the time thought it was a sequel to Alien :))

Unfortunately if I try to recreate that part of the film with this pallet my machine (which is a beast) chokes :p (neeeed moooore ram ;)).

Epic!
The previous version looks more accurate though, or have you made several different versions (as seen in the film)?

Thanks Terminator, and this version is more accurate to the reference I have (in particular for the plans I have for the Alien corridor :)).

@young2993; I have no plans to make a physical version (no means too :(), so its just going to stay 3D for now.
Terminator; I will be releasing a version soon (3DSMAx, but will export as an .obj file), so if anyone wants to go ahead and create a physical version that would be awesome! :)

Printing these in scale with NECA's new figures could be fun... Maybe also for the new SW Black series of figures...

Here is the max file, however when I tried to export to an .obj it messed up some of the poly's so have to look into that :(

OK here is an obj file, the tile had to be broken it down into a simple quarter version, so you will need to mirror it on the X and Y to get a complete version :)
