Aliens: Colonial Marines

LOL

I don't think so, I'm afraid. I've still yet to see any indication that this will be anything other than another by-the-numbers FPS game.

I'll get it eventually, I'm sure.. I'm too much a fan of the franchise not to. But highly doubtful I'll get it at launch.

LOL Ok but by the numbers? Its much better then that AVP was by the numbers
You couldn't even crouch! lol If the game looks and plays anything like the videos its going to be the best Aliens game to date by far I hope lol

I can almost guarantee this game won't even be a thought in the back of their minds when the time comes for game of the year.

I still have it on preorder though.

The funny thing was when I bought AVP back when it came out i thought It was CM!
Then I started playing it and almost cried! . The missions saved the game I like infestation
and a few others . still a handful of people on xbox live play it including myself . We basically just talk about how cool CM is going to be lol . Being a diehard Aliens fan it was fun being able to shoot a pulse rifle and smartgun as bad as the game is . You have to understand for Aliens fans this has been a long long time coming its like a dream come true . I can see myself playing this thing around the clock loving every minute of it :)

The Doctor Who platformer was by the numbers and dated too, but it was still a lot of fun just because of the iconic sound design and sets. I think at worst it's going to be worth a look.

Im hoping they'll do more with the Space Jockey like in Prometheus. I saw the trailer pics of the game and it showed the 'fossilized pilot' almost like they were going to study it.

Just pre-ordered my copy yesterday so hopefully it will come a day early like most pre-orders do from that site. I've never looked forward to a game so much in my life, I've been waiting for it since it was first announced as a Playstation2 working title. The only things I am not sure about is the Spitter and Charger aliens, I understand that they are there for variety purposes but it still detracts a little from the authenticity feel in my opinion.

I noticed by reading some of the earlier threads that Alien3 is not very well liked, I liked the theatrical version though it had many, many flaws, the extended version bought so much more life into the movie and in my opinion was great, bar of course the poor cgi. It's amazing the film ever made it onto the big screen given it's turbulent production. My hatred is directed more to Resurrection, I thought that film was pure, melted c**p from start to finish, I found nothing remotely good about it. In fact I turned it off once that guy pulled a piece of his own brain out after having his head caved in by the aliens retractable jaw, that scene told me all I needed to know.

Sshhh!! You said the "P" word!! P-word make Jeyl smash!

Sorry, Jeyl, but they've already said that the player will visit the derelict at some point in the game. Just how much is pulled from the P-word, nobody knows.

Maybe put a part of the derelict we haven't seen yet? Yes Space Jockey, yes egg chamber, but that ship was bigger then two rooms right?

I'm starting to wonder about the look of this thing, at least from what they have shown us so far. I will be probably be disappointed, but I'm really hoping to see the aftermath of the nuclear blast on the colony and the surrounding area. Plenty of the colony seems to be no worse for the wear than when we saw it in Aliens, at least from the inside.

I'm hoping for smoldering ruins of the colony, and I'm not seeing it yet. I didn't see it in the multiplayer levels at E3 either. I wonder if the story pulls out some contrived way to make the colony survive fairly intact. I remember seeing a level somewhere in which you could see the derelict wreck in the background, so I wonder if they might have invented portions of the colony outside the kill zone of the blast, conveniently near the derelict (but still not far enough away that Newt's family still had to drive there to discover it and check it out).

I really want all those marines to roll up on an ashen wasteland littered with burnt and melted debris with little more than twisted burned-out frameworks of the exposed colony buildings. I want burned remainders of alien skeletons laying about. Maybe there are portions of the colony underneath all that intact, but scorched and broken. The remaining sub-levels are powerless dungeon mazes where, mostly for the worst, there were survivors.

This game has been in development forever now (what, like 7 years?!), and I would hope it would look a little more polished. The graphics look a bit dated for 2013 standards. I doubt it will be everything I wish it could be, but I'm sure it will be fun.

I still haven't seen a definitive Wii U release date (or confirmation that it will be shipping with the other versions), but I will probably go for that version. The Wii U touchpad controller could work really well for this, and Gearbox did say they expected it to be the best version.

Hi,

New member here, but I was reading this thread with interest as I am just as excited as others about this game, and wanted to post the following video:

Aliens: Colonial Marines - All new gameplay: Singleplayer - YouTube

It looks like it checks all of the boxes for you, burnt out environment, charred remains and powerless rooms etc.

New gameplay trailer up.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - Kick Ass Trailer - YouTube

The voice over is cheesy as hell and to be honest I kept expecting him to say "Hail to the king baby"

Being released this late into the current console gens life cycle, I'm actually disappointed with the graphics. They look like something that could of been done 1 or 2 years after the Xbox/PS3 came out.

******, does EVERY video game trailer have to feature some kind of Dubstep track now adays?

As for the game itself, I'm biased, and REALLY want to love this game. But yeah, every time I see a gameplay video, I'm unimpressed. Everything still just looks so unpolished. I'm still super anxious to get my hands on the game, but deep down, I'm expecting to be disappointed.

Oh, come on! lol. You guys didn't honestly think that the 'sharp sticks' was this thing, did ya? Look at the size of it! How could we have missed that in the armory shots?

Ok, ok. I admit it's pretty clever to reference a tiny bit of dialogue from the special edition. It's pretty satisfying how the Aliens spinoffs acknowledge the Special Edition. Maybe it'll be a cool weapon after all.

It is indeed a cool reference and definitely not what I was expecting it to be but thankfully the game probably isn't canon haha.

I stopped in the local gamestop the other day and talked to the manager about them displaying one of my full sized facehuggers as part of the instore marketing for the game and they loved the idea. I'll drop it off in a couple of days and let them keep it on hand for a couple of weeks after launch. Can't hurt anything but maybe it will generate some extra foot traffic for them from the sci-fi nerdy crowd.
