Someone: "What happened on the Sulaco"

This....

Still, it was nice of this game to repaint the Sulaco registry black again.

Kinda weird that in one scene the ammo counter is in the proper right side of the rifle but in other scenes and in game the counter is on the left side. I wonder if they decided to make it an ambidextrous with counters on both sides.

I'm gonna buy this because Aliens is one of my all time favourite movies and I love the USCM, and especially the pulse rifle but I'm kind of disappointed in the voice work and the graphics for a current gen game.

They had to put it on the left side, because it needs to be visible to the player in-game.

Really, that's not a good spot for an ammo counter anyway, even if it is on the left side, because you have to move the weapon, or your head, away from firing position in order to read it. Really, you'd want the readout on the back of the weapon, where it be seen while aiming. Halo is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that has a weapon readout like that.

Yeah I know, no HUD and the players need to see how much ammo is in the mag so they flipped it. I'm just surprised to see the counter on both sides during the trailer which makes me wonder if they put it on both sides instead of having a lefty and a right pulse rifle.

I agree totally with you on the silliness of having an ammo counter on the side of the rifle as you lose your sight picture and have to take your eyes off the target. I never needed a counter on my rifle when I was in the army since as long as you count your shots, no problem. Although if I did need a counter, I agree the battle rifle and assault rifle from halo is the way to go as its a matte of flicking your eyes down quickly to see it.

New Trailer has been released. Little something for Hicks fans.

Story Trailer

Also...... who might this be?

Is that you Hudson?

Probably, especially since Gamestop has an exclusive that gives you Apone, Hicks, Hudson and Drake from the film when you buy the game from them (I think it's for the multiplayer aspects of the game).

Hudson's dead. Those bullets that Hicks sent down the hole after him weren't meant for the alien.

Could be Hicks himself. What if he's killed in action in the game and they put him back on the ship to make it look like he died in the escape pod crash (or that wasn't Hicks' body we saw in A3?) I can't remember how the timing works out, since we don't know how long after the second film the third film begins (although this trailer does indicate that the ship had already been to Fury 161)... Then again, look at the pic you posted.. bandages on his arm. Was Hicks bandaged there in the film? He was sprayed along his left side, if I remember correctly.

If this game follows Alien3 as stated when the Sulaco was last seen over Fury 161, Hicks is dead. That video message could only have been made between the moment when Ripley left to find Newt and when Bishop put him out for the pain.

Hudson was bandaged on his arm after it got sprayed with acid. Plus Hick's cloths under his armor were not that intact when compared to that screen grab.

Also, what are you talking about when you say "Those bullets that Hicks sent down the hole after him weren't meant for the alien."? In the film, Hicks tries to grab Hudson from being pulled down into the floor, but is forced to let go of him when an Alien leaps in his direction. When Hicks finally guns the alien down, he looks and sees Hudson is no longer there.

False on Hicks shooting Hudson.

Hudson gets pulled down by the alien that grabs him from underneath the floor. Hicks tries to hold onto him, sitting his gun to the right side of the open hatch until he couldn't hold any longer. Hicks picks up his gun, notices an alien coming from behind, he rolls, firing upward at the alien as it goes over him. There were never any shots sent dow into the panel, as Vasquez pulls Hicks up and pushes him towards the hallway to the door to the Medlab. Hudson himself tried to shoot the alien that had him by firing into the hole prior to letting go of his gun and grabbing Hicks when he extended his hand out, so that's probably where you got some confusion.

About your question about Hick's dressing....

That is correct, as he did get sprayed on his left side. But the problem is this: Hicks was on the Sulaco and died when the escape pod crashed on the prison planet. So, there's no way for him to be on LV-426 because he was dead. Hudson, however, was still on LV-426 after Bishop, Hicks, Newt and Ripley escaped, but his condition was never shown after that. It's safe to assume he was still alive after we last see him, as Ripley says it herself: They immobilize humans to become hosts for more of them. So, that means that after he was pulled away, he was still alive, much like what we see what happened to Burke after we last see him in a deleted scene (not counting the massive explosion that took out Hadley's Hope, naturally).

I'm starting to wonder about the look of this thing, at least from what they have shown us so far. I will be probably be disappointed, but I'm really hoping to see the aftermath of the nuclear blast on the colony and the surrounding area. Plenty of the colony seems to be no worse for the wear than when we saw it in Aliens, at least from the inside.

I'm hoping for smoldering ruins of the colony, and I'm not seeing it yet. I didn't see it in the multiplayer levels at E3 either. I wonder if the story pulls out some contrived way to make the colony survive fairly intact. I remember seeing a level somewhere in which you could see the derelict wreck in the background, so I wonder if they might have invented portions of the colony outside the kill zone of the blast, conveniently near the derelict (but still not far enough away that Newt's family still had to drive there to discover it and check it out).

I really want all those marines to roll up on an ashen wasteland littered with burnt and melted debris with little more than twisted burned-out frameworks of the exposed colony buildings. I want burned remainders of alien skeletons laying about. Maybe there are portions of the colony underneath all that intact, but scorched and broken. The remaining sub-levels are powerless dungeon mazes where, mostly for the worst, there were survivors.

This game has been in development forever now (what, like 7 years?!), and I would hope it would look a little more polished. The graphics look a bit dated for 2013 standards. I doubt it will be everything I wish it could be, but I'm sure it will be fun.

I still haven't seen a definitive Wii U release date (or confirmation that it will be shipping with the other versions), but I will probably go for that version. The Wii U touchpad controller could work really well for this, and Gearbox did say they expected it to be the best version.

I know that Hicks is dead, but I'm beginning to wonder if that's really the case. I've got a screencap of the transmission to compare with the previous shot (though both shirts have holes, you can notice some of the differences and the small similarities (such as placement of one of the holes).

You can compare them here.

Well, look at it this way...

I dont care is its Hudson, or Hicks! Im just wrapped that we get to go back into the universe of Aliens, and that one of them survived. Cause Aliens 3 was the ultimate downer :(

I think I have to finally bite the bullet and get myself a console system again!

GAME OVER MAN!
I don't think so! :)

My gut says its Hudson... Hope so!

I think they were saying or there was talk on here that the atmosphere processors were far enough away from Hadley's hope that the explosion didn't affect it all that much.

I don't know how I feel about hicks being the character the marines find or whatever in the game. I mean at what point do they pull the ol' switcheroo? He died in the escape pod crash. Are they completely ignoring Alien 3 and resurrection then?

Part of me is feeling like the writers do want to ignore Alien3, but at the same time they can't because if they're going to make a true sequel to ALIENS, they would have to bring Ripley back. They probably didn't want to do this since Ripley would be too expensive to put in the game for Sigourney Weaver's likeness and voice.

If they ignored Alien3, they wouldn't have to deal with the plot point of the Sulaco coming back to LV-426 after passing Fury 161. I would have settled with Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop being missing and figuring out what happened.

I worry that the gameplay may be disappointing in single player, but we'll see. Hope to be wrong. Still, I'm playing the Doctor Who game, and it's pretty underwhelming, but it's still fun to have the cool Who sound design, and to be in the TARDIS, etc. I think that just being able to fire off pulse rifles and use a motion tracker will get me there on opening day to buy it.
