Hey folks,

Always loved the APC from Aliens. Time to make a fairly sized model. A few years back i got a copy of the studio blueprint used to build the full-size prop, filled with profiles and dims. A good start, as it seems to be a fairly definite version, with minor changes.

Now the fullsize 1/1 prop (build on a Hunslet aircraft tow tractor) clocks in at roughly 8,5 mtr long. Recalc at 1/12th scale makes it 712 mm long, or a bit over 28 1/4" long.

The Halcyons kit is actually quite accurate. There are a number of things that are different from the final on-screen prop ( 1/1 or miniature ), but they are minor and easily recognizable with a bit of research. My model is based on the blueprints, and not so much the Halcyon kit.

Nowadays i love doing prework in 3d CAD, to work out any issues. Also links up easier with my cnc. Currently have the body nearly done in cad, still need to finetune the top chamfer and the front nose (the front turret area to be precise). Started on the wheels. I have some good pics of the real wheels, which have VERY different thread than the Halcyon kit.

Will this be a kit ? Probably yes, but first finish the masters.

Thanx guys. Btw, seeing those old 3d screenshots makes me feel a bit ashamed. My current 3d work has improved considerably since then, even though i still have a lot to learn.

On the APC, i'll have some new pics up tomorrow morning.

Heya folks,

Have to run out in a minute for a birthdayparty i forgot about, so a quick post.

The acrylic frontwindows, bagged and all. The two parts are seperated by a piece of paper to prevent scratching each other.

Some of the wheel hubs, nose turrets, machined headlight panels and door rails.

More later today.

Heya folks,

Here's another box of parts.

Some parts i haven't shown before:
Left top corner: detail parts inside the forward wheel wells.
Left lower corner: circular spacers for crescent wheel disc, and fasteners for axles.
Center right, Left next to window frames: half round ammo belts for under main gun turret barrel.

More next time, probably tomorrow.

The lil parts look great but "where's the beef?" 80's commercial reference... anyhow... the re done hull, and other major parts.. drooling to see those and info on the shipping of the first 5 kits....

Heya folks,

I'm out for a few days, since my bday earlier this week. Spending a few days with the family. I'll be back either sunday or monday, and will shoot some pics of the bodyshell. I'm sure you guys will like it.

I talked with the factory up north from here to use their vac casting facilities. I can use them on a limited basis so as not to interfere with their regular schedules. The boss is back on monday, so can discuss schedules with him. Everything is a bit slow at the moment, holiday times and all, for which i apologize to the group.

Wasili has had delivery problems in the past.

But, you don't have to ask him for a delivery date every 12 hours. You are watching him...OK. We GET it.

ALL of us are guilty of a late project somewhere. *I* certainly am.

I would suggest that we all be a bit more self-aware, before busting someone else's chops about delivery schedules.
